This topic has been discussed, but primarily for hair removal on "The Boys"

I am talking full body hair removal options. I will need to remove all body hair, except on my head (the one on my shoulders), later this summer. I am looking for best suggestions to do this.

I am also wondering if any ladies would include this in their services and how much they would charge. Now how's that for an "extra" inquiry! A good slippery body slide would feel wonderful after this I am sure. (I live in Alberta but do travel to the coast and could make a trip to Man/Sask work too)

I am not so hairy that I attract female Sasquatches or Orangutans, but their is some work to be done.

Curious to see your replies.

Thanks

clearcutting the forest

I've waxed backs (ouch), trimmed & shaved balls 'n' all and heavens knows, women are experts at shaving legs & underarms. For you i'd suggest trimming the longest hairs first then electric razoring everything to avoid nicks. Depilatory is also an option but it's super stinky & doesn't get everything so you'd want to follow up with a thorough lathering of strongly scented soap & razor touch-up. Massage oil & bodyslides to finish..mmm..mowin' the lawn can be fun!

I'll be your manscaper!

Sexy Beast

I remember growing up watching many film icons like Anthony Quinn and Sean Connery who were once the embodiment of a sexy MAN. They were hairy, rough around the edges and industrial strength. It was these qualities in part which seperated and distinguished themselves from the BOYS. Now I realize times have changed and gender roles are not so absolute as they once were, but sometimes I wonder.

Scientist say that in a few hundred years men a women will evolve to the point were body hair will dissappear as it's old function of warmth and protection from elements will no longer be neccessary. It seems as if we as a species can't wait for nature to run it's course.

There's waxing, but it's only temporary and can be painful (if you've seen "Forty Year Old Virgin" you'll know why).

Laser hair removal seems to be the way to go, but it's pricey.

Since you're in Edmonton, one place to go to is the Board Room downtown. It's not a MP so don't go there looking for "finishes" (some of the girls are hot though). It's a guy's spa, which does both the waxing and the laser treatment.

Otherwise, look in the phone book for other laser clinics.

But most importantly, make sure if you want to do this.
Many women I talk to say that they love men with hairy bodies, but not on the back. The only ones who seem to like hairless guys are these young bimbos who think all guys should look like Calvin Klein models.
The only other reason for total hair removal is if you're competing in bodybuilding.

I had my back waxed a week ago and although I am not particularly hairy it was a long, tough, somewhat bloody session. I cannot even imagine having my chest waxed.

If you're going to go for the full meal deal then I would seriously consider getting very, very drunk to the point of losing consciousness. Then, and maybe then, you might make it through the session intact.

But then you might be one tough dude and sail right through it.

I'll probably whimper like a baby. Drunk is not an option, no booze on the menu for training.

Drunk not an option? I would have a guy do the waxing and tearing. Guys are more sensitive to the pain of other guys. Women, I find, have a higher threshhold for pain or just more experience with it.

Tall guys really turn me on. They're my favorite kind of man.

Considering I'm 5'8" myself...It's nice when someone is taller.
Well I am not tall 5'8" too. Sorry. I hope that doesn't totally eliminate me from your potentail list. I'd wear Kiss Boots if that would help?

Hi Guardian Angel,

Waxed my entire upper body a few years ago. I was not competing but was in excellent shape (and am gradually but tenaciously returning to that condition again, oh the pain ...) and was very curious to see what I looked like "underneath."

I am quite the sasquatch. In fact, I sometimes believe that I am the missing link in the evolutionary chain between the lower primates and homo sapiens ;) WAXING HURTS. A LOT. And despite my soft exterior I have lots of experience with physical pain - even then I was trembling at the end of the waxing session. At first, you think, this ain't so bad but then you realize how many "swipes" are involved in waxing such a large surface.

My recommendation is to find the best, most upscale place you can afford with the best, most experienced attendant. Gender doesn't matter. The upscale places are cleaner and will probably offer soft music, lotions, massages, etc. to distract you from the torture. The best and most experienced attendants don't make clumsy mistakes (like too little wax, too slow of a swipe) that cause even more pain and skin irritation. Even with all the amenities I still broke out in a horrible rash 36 hours later and used up a whole tube of prescription steroid cream. And all I learned was that I needed to do more ab-crunches. ;)

Cheers,

VF

You want pain?

I just had permanent lipstick tattooed on last week. OH MY GOD, THE PAIN!!!!
Experiencing bruising at the moment which is covered up by...lipstick. Blue lips aren't sexy unless you are hypothermic.

Let this be a lesson, you want a distraction? Screw soothing music. Bring an MP3 player in with you and crank that sucker up!!! Then it'll be a piece of cake.

Thanks, now you have me wondering? Shave or neat it away?

a very useful thread. the idea of blood and bad rashes from waxing does not turn me on.

are there any recommendations for places in vancouver that offer laser hair removal? although not too hairy, i wouldn't mind being hairless for a few months or longer.

also has anyone tried ipl for hair removal (intense pulse light??)?

btw - plucking and trimming the hair from your privates area makes a huge difference in overall looks of your dick.
Not everyone is suited to IPL ... they claim you should not be dark skinned or hyper or hypo pigmentation can result from the procedure
What about sugaring? Does the hair grow back?
Maybe it is painful?

laser vs ipl

I had a full bikini lasering 2 yrs ago. Took 3 visits spaced several weeks apart & cost $700. First year i was very bald, now it's just light growth.

From what i've heard from men who've been lasered, it is not nearly as successful and i can only imagine the cost & time of treating a big hairy beast as opposed to a l'il kitty!

I also had IPL 2 yrs ago for 'facial rejuvination' (gets rid of spots & helps build collagen/elasticity). As with laser, it's a multi session commitment that really adds up $. I recall the esthetician saying that a side effect of the treatment was that any hair also got zapped. Didn't notice but it's probably because i don't have a beard to begin with. :)

IPL & laser have been used extensively for several years..i should think if one worked particularily well for hair removal, the industry would adopt it and laser seems to be the widely accepted method. Nevertheless, phone around to the better doctor run clinics that offer both & see what they're recommending.

Finally, summer is not the ideal time to do either treatment as they're not effective on tanned skin (real or fake) & post sun exposure is a no-no.

G.A.:

have you just considered shaving like every other bodybuilder? technically you don't need to be hairless all year round, only on stage. if you look closely at bodybuilding pics in the magazines you can see the spots where the hair is just starting to grow back.

i dont' wax anymore. last time i did the lady tore one patch of hair off my chest and it didn't pull it all from the roots and i had trickles of blood from the ones that did come out from the roots. so now i just shave.

sugaring / hair inhibitor

If you are a girly man type of guy with not much body hair, then waxing might not be too bad. I am fairly hairy, and I tried waxing my back once at a spa... the pain, the horror, the worst experience of my life! The attendant kept saying, "you are a very brave man." Never again will I wax.

Someone earlier mentioned body sugaring. Does anybody know anything about sugaring? Is it the same process as waxing except using a sugar solution? There is a spa in Coquitlam that advertises all over CL.

Also, when you do get the hair removed, there are products that help reduce the hair growth after. The root has to be removed, so shaving does not work with this stuff. I have never used the stuff, but came across the site by accident... http://www.nisim.com/catalog/23 I'm sure there are other similar products that do the same thing. Has anybody tried hair inhibitor products?
