So if Arnold Schwarzenegger worked out in his basement it would have worked out better for him than going to a gym? Don’t think so. Just because you have some pseudo fitness routine going on, doesn’t mean it’s the be all end all.
Did you read his routine he posted in the “how was your workout” thread?

Good lord, I felt like a lazy couch potato after reading it.

Why so negative?
What works for me,may not work for others.
What works for others, may not work for me.

Each of us are unique,so we formulate, what works for our own selves.
My point being, whatever routine fits you, you're better off with a home gym, than going to public gym.

I put formulated my work out routine, after reading Arnold Schwarneneggers',Encyclopedia Of Modern Bodybuilding.
Arnolds book has many more varieties of work out routine suggestions, than the one which I do,in accommodating to the wide variety of fitness enthusiasts.
I reference Arnolds' book for form & concepts, such as starting at the core, then leading out to extremities.
Other concepts include all round balance,as opposed to overdoing some areas, while neglecting others.
Symmetry is essential,too.

Your negative opinionated energy, masterblaster,is just another case in point, for why I'm glad to leave public gyms behind.
What other different routines, work for different people is fine by me.
What matters is diligence,form,safety,self-effacement and carrying through on your agenda.
I am I,not Arnold Schwarzenegger,so I will not be publicly working out at Muscle Beach Los Angeles.

Really no respect for a guy like Arnold or any other shit pumpers for that matter. It's a personal choice for everyone but I don't agree with it.

I am grateful to Arnold, for the original,"Conan The Barbarian".
All the actors were great in their performance and the special effects were unforgettable.
Too bad,"Conan The Barbarian" sequels went corny.
I also reference Arnolds' ,"Encyclopedia Of Modern Bodybuilding".

That having been said,I have no interest in bodybuilding competition.
FIFA WORLD CUP,is the true beautiful game of the highest international stature.
Alpinists, freestyle skiers & snowboarders, they are the ones who impress me.
Operating within the range of my ability,I have a list of treks to be done, while I still have the legs to do so.

On the subject of,"Shit Pumpers" it brings to mind steroid users.
I have not been to a public gym in two decades,so I'm unaware of,if steroids are still an issue or have fallen out of favor.
Weight resistance training should be beneficial to mind & body, steroid abuse does the exact opposite.
There must be some kind of a misguided psychological imbalance at play,to compel an amateur athlete,to take steroids.
Most likely there are:"Roid Ragers" still out there, whereby public gyms are the places they may frequent, what a treat.

There are bicycle stands, which you clamp in your front forks, then let your back wheel,be supported by two small spinning wheels.
Put on a heartrate monitor, spin to your target heart rate zone, for your target period of time.
That's my recommendation,if you already have a bicycle.

That's a great idea! Thank you! :)

What are a few unwritten rules to follow at a local gym? Most gyms might have a set of rules to follow; read them.

Here are 3 things I see all the time:
By the barbell stands, there are usually lines about 2-3 feet from the racks. This is in order for other people to use the weights. Stand behind the line when doing your exercises... I see people go up to the stands, pick up weights and start doing their exercises right there at the stands.

Are there any other unwritten rules to follow?
Why are they doing that ??? I thought it was just me who gets annoyed by it.
Can't stand stinky people. My nose has major issue handling bad odors.
I ride motorcycle and I wear a scarf which I wear and pull up to my nose if somebody smells badly beside me.
I used to do CrossFit and there was a few full bloomed stinker in our group we had a hard time to avoid.

I’ve recently purchased my own free weights and will continue to buy more as my strength increases. I already get my cardio from trail running.

I’m happy to not have to go to a gym anymore.
I hate crowds, I hate waiting, and I find working out in solitude to be so much better overall, at least for me.
I go around 6am and the gym is empty, it's perfect.
