Wow this is great news!!!!

Can you imagine all the ramifications of this???

ORGANIC meat would be the default, non-organic meat will be unheard of! It will also become cheap! All the land used to raise cows will be used for other things, cows won't be tortured, slaughter will be gone! AMAZING!

Now here's the bad news:
- it will be tempting to combine the DNA of cows with other animals to create composite meats, and I think this could have dire health consequences
- other animals, such as rhinos, giraffes and monkeys would be up for consumption
- it is already possible to grow human skin this way (read the article).... and I wonder if there will be a taste for human meat.... could you imagine human meat burgers? I'm pretty sure certain people in the world would be willing to try it as a delicacy

You can differentiate stem cells from any animal to be any type of cells. That means that you can grow stem cells to be muscle, fat, cartilage, and so on from rats, pigs, cows, humans, rhinos, giraffes or anything you can think of. That's what researchers have been doing to create skin, muscle, cartilage or other type of substitutes. There already are companies that devote themselves to growing these undifferentiated cells into the desired differentiated cells. So, overall it is more than likely that you will see some lab-grown steaks with the desired amount of fat with a relatively fast turnover... That you want to eat them or not, that's another story...

Maybe it'll be like that movie The Matrix where humans are recycled and fed back through test tubes into the living that is plugged in.

Wow the future is going to be wild!!!!

Yuck! Where is the barf smiley? The thought just makes me want to heave. I like my meat organic!!! Whole Foods actually has some meats that tell you on the packaging what farm it came from, and a little info you wouldn't normally see.
Thank u, Lavinia. Ever since the pink slime scandal I need to know about my beef.

im confused.. i already thought our human dna was sequenced into cows and pharmed out of them for our use in medicine already? its called pharming. The milk we drink is from those cows. The steaks and burger we consume are from these animals. Who knows what kind of dna and cells are in your local fast food burger joint already? most food being produced in the world has been genetically modified. there is no use fighting it at this point. this is fact.. i would like to admit in my humble opinion that organic food is a SCAM to take your money. Its genetically modified to appear organic..there are unimaginable things going on in science today and its nothing to be alarmed about.. but.. realistic about..

actually this is very big right now, having a clone of yourself is an advantage to harvest the stem cells. this is occuring. why not extend human life? or alter your organs, which ones you need, alter your reproducing capabilities to make it safer or eliminate it all together, eliminate cardiac problems and cancer... to live forever. why not? this is the future and we have evolved for centuries there is nothing stopping us from creating this. its here already.

if you have the $, and as it has been said to assist with space travel. you cant have a cycle of dying humans aboard.
whats going to be your choice? genetically modify yourself or die?
especially with the risks of whats in our food today.. isn't it ironic? we will have to depend on the very thing we are despising in order to live..
