This one's a fake - hilarious though! (Or, I'm guessing it's a fake!).

But the idea is a good one for a thread - favorite real sequels...
Often times sequels suck.
Alien and Die Hard were good exceptions.
(Lord of the Rings really doesn't count, since the Books already pre-existed).

For movie sequels it has to be the Jason Bourne series; it just got better and better with each movie. I definitely agree that Aliens was better than the first.

Great Sequels

I would pick : Die Hard 2,3,and 4. Also I thought Blade 2 was really good. It felt like Blade 1 never ended. It was a great sequel.

I agree, the Jason Bourne movies are pretty good too.

The Dark Knight... which was far superior to the original.

Indiana Jones Trilogy... Yes Trilogy! I don't even accept the fourth exists.

Evil Dead Trilogy...

The Godfather 2

There have been many great sequels...

Which Batman qualifies as the 'Original'? Holy Film-flams, Batman!

I thought the one with Jack Nicholson as the Joker was fantastic. "This town needs an enema!", best line in a movie ever!
And the one after that was worth watching just to pause moments of Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman, and drool.

The recent, 'Dark Knight', lost it's comic-book-world flavour, was too real-world with one rogue in tights, and felt more like a violent episode of Law and Order or Silence of the Lambs. Gotham City was too much Like New York, and not a comic book city.

Most people I talk to agree, the second Indiana Jones (Temple of Doom) sucked. And this last, 4th one? Indiana Jones meets E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial <gutteral -Cringe!> Why did we need space aliens mixed in with a great adventure series???

Star Wars, Empire was great, excpet for the 'to-be-continued' weak ending - - but 'Return of the Teddy Bears' (Ewoks) took a nose-dive. That was when George Lucas quit writing for adult, and re-directed the intent of the series for kids.

The Spiderman series, however, is without complaint for sequels.

I also liked the Lethal Weapon series.

You didn't like the ending of ESB? The ending's great!

Luke gets his hand cut off, finds out Vader is his father, Han gets frozen, taken away by Boba Fett. It ends on such a down note. I mean, that's what life is, a series of down endings.

OK, maybe I stole that from Clerks, but that doesn't make it any less true!

The first one was good, after that...not so much. This tends to be the way with sequels, except Star Trek where the second one was great followed by Star Trek IV.

A wee bit out there...

Silence of the lambs, Hannibal etc for me ;)

I've seen all of them several times and can still get goosebumps.

"Revenge of the Sith" was far better than "Phantom Menace" and "Attack of the Clones"
That's only because it couldn't get any worse...

On my list, though, sequel-wise...

The Empire Strikes Back
Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade
Spider-man 2
Godfather 2
Clerks 2
The Dark Knight
X-Men 2
Army Of Darkness
The Two Towers & Return Of The King
Star Trek 2, 4, 6, and 8
Toy Story 2

...that's all I can think of at the moment... :D

Has anyone seen the new version of Debbie Does Dallas from Vivid? Does that count as a sequel? I suppose it is a remake much like the new Star Trek movie.

The Jason Bourne ones are great in that each version stood well on its own but there was also a good connection in the storyline for all of them. Also - the sequels were just as good if not better than the previous ones.

This cannot be said for the Matrix or Back to the Future ones for example.
