...their cars are simply pieces of shit.

I bought my Pontiac back in 1996. I sold the shitbox in 2001. The 5 years I had it, saw a new tranny after 2 years, and a stack of recall notices. Literally. A stack. At least one per month during the time I owned it. Now, after 5 years without it, I guess they finally found my new address, 'cause this arrived in the mail today:

(my current car is Japanese)

I had a 1996 GM car that was the worst piece of crap ever put on wheels.
Sold it about 18 months later with only 24,000 kms on it and it spent about 2 months in the shop of that 18 .

Then i was stupid enough to buy GM again....Sucker me bought a 2000 Tahoe SUV.
In the 2 years i owned that piece of shit it left me stranded 7 times.
The brakes wore out in 18,000 kms.
It blew up 2 transmissions.
It was a gutless wonder with that 5.3 litre v8, and on and on i could gripe about it.

I know drive a 2002 honda pilot.
So far it has had oil changes only.
But the wipers are nearly due for replacement as they are streaking the windshield badly.
It is literally that reliable.
I just had it in the shop for a service.
I asked about the brakes, as they always wore out on the tahoe.
The mechanic said they are not even half ways worn yet, and i have 54,000 kms on it.
It uses half the fuel the tahoe did, and would kick the GM's ass power wise.
the seats are comfy on a long drive, unlike the tahoe that gave me a numb ass after 2 hours.
It handles wayyyyyyyyyyyy better.
Its quieter.
and will carry as much as the tahoe did.

GM just builds crap IMHO

I hope they fold up and then its less junk on th road.

Growing up my family was loyal to GM and like clockwork dad & granddad would visit the local dealership every two years and flip their cars for a new model. Growing up with that sort of history when it came to my first car what else was I going to get....well a GM of course. Bought a 2 year old Cavalier that looked pretty good and for a 16 yr old thought I was doing OK.

Wow....what a monumental piece of fucking garbage! You name the problem and that car had it....paint, engine, transmission, electrical, breaks, suspension....everything! Same could be said for the other vehicles the family bought from 1988 forward. Aside from the chronic problems and lack luster design it was probably the aweful service received from the dealerships and GM that left us feeling the most pissed off. The attitude at every step was they simply didn't give a rats ass about their product or their customers.

I don't care what they would do to their vehicles I will NEVER buy or lease another GM piece of garbage. They could come out with a Caddie that when you pressed a button a head would pop out of the console and give you a blowjob and I still wouldn't take the pile of crap for a test drive.

Its not just GM, the other two North American manufacturers have also been building garbage for years. My Toyota 4Runner is head & shoulders above the Dodge Cummins truck I drove before - in terms of build quality.

Not sure, but I believe Saturn is a GM brand - I've had one for a few years and it's been a great car.

My two previous vehicles were Toyota/Honda, so can't really comment about other GM models.

But my current one has been very reliable - and Saturn customer service is about the best I've ever experienced.

like you chaps my 1990 chev beretta was a fukkin POS soon after I bought it. Right up until damn near 2000 when I sold it off for peanuts. I guess I'm a glutton for punishment to keep a car thats 2 bits'ing me to death for near 10 years.

I've never bought domestic, never will. Worst car I ever owned was Fiat, but the only thing that ever went wrong was the radiator cracked at 80,000 miles. All other cars (8 of them) have been German or Japanese.

I agree GM vehicles have been pieces of shits in the past but that convertible Soltice looks great! At least visually. Maybe this vehicle will boost GM's sales...

i hear ya

the canucks play in GM place, i think they have won 1 playoff round in 5 years.

the starting goalie broke again this year and to be replaced.

the captain broke a leg a few years ago, and now has serious enough problems to be recalled from the olympics.

in the last year before the lockout, the bertuzzi had a severe malfunction resulting in suspension problems, which affected a playoff run.

so yes ... obviously GM sucks.

My first ever car was a GM... biggest piece of sh$t ever... from the day I sold it and bought imports, I have had the motto... friends don't let friends buy domestic...

I'm told that if you own a dealership, you are in the business of selling parts, not cars... since the profit margin on a typical car is not that high but the margin on the parts is astronomical.

This may or may not be true, I cannot verify this... but I believe that GM's business model is such that the parts are actually DESIGNED to fail after a preset time to force you to buy replacements... whereas with a typical german or japanese car, they design parts to last as long as possible or practical... and that's why u get hondas and toyotas that have about 500,000 mi on them and still run ... I don't think I see ANY of my first car on the road... like EVER... they must ALL be dead... I kid you not... and my first car was a very popular car too at the time... I honestly cannot remember as good as my memory serves seeing a version of my car from that year anytime in the last 3 years.... maybe 4-5 years ago yes, but now I think they are ALLLL JUST DEAD and in a crusher used for scrap metal.

Tao has my favourite ever sig line pic. He should post more often.
I really liked it the first time I saw it, but honestly, I now find that girl extremely annoying (no offense to Tao... it's not the sig, it's the girl... if u found another girl doing the same thing, I would probably like it).
