i'm glad they finally drew for the damn thing - they've been non-stop advertising it for about three years in a row now... maybe we'll get a break from it for a while...

Broadcasters historically have not been well paid. Unless they become a "name". Then when they go to renegotiate their contract, CNN, CBS etc starts looking pretty good.

Barry 'might' be on a $100K maybe.

I know this for a fact. :D

No, I am not in the industry.

Out of curiousity what do you think Squire Barnes makes? He's been a lot time veteran. And how about that newer broadcaster Shanel? A big wage gap?

Hard to tell IMHO. He spent a lot of years on Radio. Like all of these on air personalities they have to spend their dues in the minors so to speak. Small towns with small stations and limited budgets. TV and radio are suffering from reduced revenues due to the internet just like other media. Net result is there is not much room to move on wages/benefits.

Only sure thing for on air broadcasters is the mother corp CBC who tend to have long term employees like any other government organization.

My source is someone who has worked a long time in the management side of broadcasting.

I highly doubt they are going to pay a sportscaster a 100k in a local market for being the 3rd guy on list

One of the clowns that works for CTV Edmonton told a guy he was interviewing a couple of years ago all he made was 55k
