Glenn Blech? As in Blechhhhhh (insert sound effect)?

I am neither a Conservative, nor an American. But, we did avoid him on tv even when I did live in the states, and went to school.

I suppose I feel much the same as I feel about Rupert Murdoch.

I am quite curious.

What are peoples opinions of Glenn Beck?

He seems like a total douche. I'm not even sure if he hears what he says sometimes or if he says it just to be controversial and super conservative.

He is a sensationalist personality that goes to the lowest common denominator to appeal to a large minority of Americans. He proves his points and pushes his agenda thru fear and scare factics, rather than a factual, logical process.

Go to youtube and watch some of his clips. When he pulls out his chalk board and starts writing words and drawing flow charts. Every single word is meant to tug on some redneck evangelicals heart string, and spark fear.

I like to watch his shows. Obviously he's making everything more dramatic, but he does bring up a lot of interesting points which does need to be explored.
He presents evidence and then interpret them with his own opinions. Beck also tells his viewers to "look it up yourself, don't just take my word for it", which is probably the most important thing any commentator/journalist/personality can say.

He's a moron.

Who treats his audience like little boys and girls.

He twists and ignores facts.

I don't know how anyone can watch that drival.

IMHO, Beck is an uneducated, completely deranged, paranoiacally stupid meglomaniac, who is somehow clever enough to cash in with an audience who is just like him.

We are witnessing the mental breakdown of the USA, with its Becks, Palins, Limbaughs, etc. Combined with its insane gun-toting liberties, can American anarchy be far behind.....

What would anybody think of him? Unless they are uneducated boobs who can't see when somebody is raking in the bucks by appealing to the lowest common denominator -- or if they are Jon Stewart looking for more comic relief -- they would pay no attention.

It's like asking "What do you think of Sarah Palin?"

I would rather listen to Alex Jones than Glen Beck. I would recommend watching the following films. www.theunionmovie.com, Loose Change which can be found on YouTube and lastly The Obama Deception. And then go do yourselves a favor and do some background research on some of the top level elites in the Bilderburg group and their involvement with Eugenics.

We are not too far away before " Climate Change " gets spun around and called over population. The American Dollar is dropping in value for a reason and its not going to come back up.

put the information from those 3 movies together and what do you get ?

- Greedy Pharmaceutical companies that forced the prohibition of Hemp which by itself can help solve deforestation and cure diseases by being used in paper products, textiles and medicine and clothing.
- Governments that profit off the dumbing down of nations.
- Bankers that fund both sides of all wars to turn a profit.
- the reason why Alberta and many US states had fluoride in the water ( lowers IQ and various other side effects from long term exposure including infertility)

Remember Science Fiction movies are always based on some truth.
- why make a Science Fiction movie then ? Because once you turn it into a movie even if it is 100% true the thought of it happening in real life becomes unbelievable and " its just a movie " when in fact its based on real truth.

Many people around the world are slowly waking up and realizing that yeah something is wrong with the world and there are people behind the scenes doing something to make it so.

And lastly if you actually believe the so called "war on terror" is about protecting the people from Terrorists then you've got a lot of ground to cover and research to do. I just hope you guys actually look into what I've typed out here because the path to knowing the truth has to start from somewhere. Maybe its too hard to believe maybe it is but just keep an open mind and you'll start to see the bigger picture.

While I would not be surprised that some elements can be reliably proven as true, it does not mean that all of the claims and all of the theories should be accepted as truth or reality. What you accuse others who do not accept any and all ideas they come across as you do, you should in fact be applying to yourself and your own willingness to so easily accept alternate versions simply because they are presented in a way that makes them easily believable. That you do not exercise any skeptical or critical thinking yourself but instead latch on to each new claim because it fits with your own belief, makes you no better or worse than anyone who refuses to question their beliefs or what they're told..

It's best to start doing the work yourself before pointing fingers at others. The Fine Art of baloney detection by Carl Sagan is actually a great place to start. I recommend reading the full text if you are serious about what you say but you can also take a peek at the abbreviated version.... or you can watch it explained clearly in a video:

That's what I think you should definitely spend some time practicing if you're going to "research" all these claims and conspiracy theories out there. You're not doing yourself, anyone else or these ideas any favor by not challenging any of what you're told. And people are not likely to take you seriously if all you're doing is repeating the ideas you've heard somewhere and not exercising any critical thought in the process. Think about it.

You can't convince a believer of anything; for their belief is not based on evidence,
it's based on a deep seated need to believe.

- [Dr. Arroway in Carl Sagan's Contact]

In regards to the original subject of this thread - that sort of covers what I think of people like Glenn Beck. Glenn Beck and others like him operate with this in mind, they know most people out there have no critical thinking skills and that is specifically who they target. People who usually accept arguments that seem to "confirm" or support what they already believe, they only look to one source or one side for all of their information and facts and they wrongfully accept anything they perceive to be coming from a source they consider "authority" (ie Well, if it's on the news, then it's true and absolute. And Fox News is "the news" so it's all true. Result: Believe everything, question or investigate nothing because there is no need to.)

Glenn Beck and his type know who they're targeting and know that very little (if any at all) of what they say will be questioned or criticized. Add fear, shock factor, a healthy dose of paranoia and a steady supply of manipulation for good measure....... and you've got great tv ratings, complete with an angry, entranced and basically pretty dumb following that will buy anything you say. Ta-da.

"There's a sucker born every minute."
- [P. T. Barnum]

The reality is that these people only take advantage of what's already there. If most people are not able to think for themselves or realize the need for it, there's bound to be someone who exploits this to their own benefit. So the problem is not that Glenn Beck is a nut job spewing his propaganda or that Fox News is anything but news. The problem is that millions and millions of people do not have the capability to figure this out for themselves (among other many other things!). And that is what the rest of us should be very, very afraid of. Especially considering that Canada is not immune to this.

Anyway. And that's my cents....or $2. :)

Thank you, Miss Bijou. Damn, you are eloquent, and right on in your reply....as you most often are.

As a side note, "The Union" movie is actually quite well researched, and a good source of information about the topic of hemp...."Loose Change" and "The Obama Deception" --- not so much.
