I don't know how popular it is out there in the land of cable, because I watch pretty much everything off netflix or online, but I thought I would share how super rad this show is!! It's "Girls", it's on HBO, so there's lots of sex, swearing, drug use, and nudity, and very some pretty intense but honest situations occur. It's a little teeny/coming-of-age, and has certain scenes that make you feel really awkward for the characters, but it's also hilarious and intelligent. I'm completely addicted!!

I mainly posted this for the ladies, but guys, it's a really great show for you, too! Give it a chance. No one has to know ;)

I won't become Mr. Popularity with this comment. Boring and juvenile based on the clip you posted. A lowest common denominator type of program. Pure sensationalism.

Not porn. It's HBO.

I like it and have watched from day one. I'm older and I like to get a sense an of what the youngins are watching and talking about. No doubt it won't be everybody's cup of tea and right now the sort of "cool thing" is to bash it for a variety of reasons. Doesn't hurt the old ratings I'd imagine.

Peace

Maybe you'd enjoy the humour of "Getting On" better, retriever?
A quick check told me this is HBO. I don't subscribe to that network.

The West Wing is more my cup of tea. In the comedy field I find Jeff Dunham is very good. Todays comedies are very lowest common denominator events. Again not for me but thanks for the thought.

Well, like, that's, like because I'm just like, a dumb escort. Like.

Maybe before making snap judgements and throwing out an un-constructive criticism regarding people's opinions on televisions shows, you actually might take into account that people like certain things because they can relate to them. Just because you don't doesn't make something boring or juvenile. Name calling I can do without. How do you stereotype an entire genre without actually experiencing it? I can't. Why be rigid? It's so negative to make assumptions without trying something, not to mention you miss out on so many great things. That alone is way more boring than just the elitist attitude. You obviously have the ruling perspective when deeming worthy or unworthy television....regarding the comedy style of a 22-minute-a-week series....geared towards 20-something hipster girls in Brooklyn. My bad.

I have personal preferences and opinions as do you. What is the problem. I made no personal attacks however you are.

I'm not making a personal attack. Just pointing out the obvious. Vetoing or claiming some kind of superiority over things without actually knowing anything about them is completely elitist. What's the point in shitting on what others enjoy, other than to be insulting?

What is the problem.

"shitting on" Not terminology I would ever use.

"superiority" "elitist" Your words luv. Not mine. What are you afraid of?

Still entitled to my preferences and opinions as are you. Free speech. This is Canada.

Considering the nature of what you frequently post, boring and juvenile certainly come to mind. I would've thought a program like this would be right up your alley.
Based on viewer traffic I'm right on. If you find these threads and posts both boring and juvenile I would suggest stop looking at them and put me on ignore.

What a great show! Lena Dunham is a gem and Adam Driver might have some of the funniest/greatest dialogue ever written. I can't wait to get started with season 3.

If only people stopped believing their own delusional web metrics, especially without statistics, they might start posting to support the community instead of feeding their own ego

Oh wait, most people do that, including this OP.

After reading the OP on this thread I went to the internet to look into the show. After reading many recommendations for this show from various media outlets and writers proclaiming its smart writing and realistic references towards our current culture in how it looks at women I think it's time to give it a viewing. The fact that Lena Dunham has made a name for herself recently in her defense of not trying to fit the Hollywood mold of you have to be thin to be pretty, rather that you have to only be yourself is another definitive plus in the "you should watch this" column. Smart writing and good acting will always draw me in, so it seems I will have to earmark this for the next time I have some excess leisure time for a little viewing. Thank you to SeductiveCameron for bringing this to my attention.
