I would have loved the Dyson Vacuum Cleaner.
I am just a sucker for things that I can actually. Jewelry just doesn't do it for me anymore. It was ruined by the guy that would buy jewelry to make up for not enough time spent.
Oh my god, I have a Dyson and I totally love it! Haha, this is my dorky moment...
Anyway-
I do think jewelry was a good pick over the handbag. I have absolutely no interest in handbags, so I don't agree that buying an expensive handbag is a safe bet when shopping for a woman...but a nice piece of jewelry is pretty much always appropriate. Even if she's not a big jewelry fan, it's nice to have something to wear to parties, special occasions, etc.
Until recently I didn't have any nice jewelry of my own, and always had to borrow a friend's when I was invited to a wedding, or a special event.
When it comes down to it, I would always go for a personal gift over an expensive gift, but since it sounds like you don't know her too well (yet) then this is probably a good bet
