Mods told me to post this here on the Lounge instead as not allowed to add to a very old thread in the Health Information area and also since I'm not a Health Professional.

GetCheckedOnline is a service provided by the Clinical Prevention Services Division at the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC), as part of the Provincial Health Services Authority. The BC Centre for Disease Control is located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
Clinical Prevention Services provides leadership for the treatment and prevention of sexually transmitted infections (STI) and HIV, and supports BC-wide efforts to control STI and HIV.
Internet-based testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) is a relatively new approach to STI testing. GetCheckedOnline has been developed to meet a growing need for easier access to STI testing in BC. The BCCDC has piloted GetCheckedOnline in select communities around British Columbia to evaluate its success and is now hoping to expand to other areas of the province.
You simply just create your own account, your own lab test requisition and take it to one of the few of the affiliated LifeLabs (as not all are included).
There are currently 6 LifeLabs in Van & 1 in Abbotsford that are affiliated with this program. There's anonymity and you get to see your own results (particularly if negative; must get further info if results are positive). But instead of going to see your MD and getting a requisition, the requests/results are between you and the PHSA and no one else needs to know.

Speaking with a rep, this was originally a pilot project started about 10 yrs ago but approx.4 years ago this testing has now been made available for the public. Apparently there's only a couple years worth of funding remaining and not sure if PHSA will continue with this project but I think it's useful for anyone to use in the meantime.
The Lifelabs don't ask to see your PH card/number as it's already administered on your lab request. They just want to see the QQ Client code and it would be provided to you via email on the lab request that you generated. You simply fill out the questionnaire based on your recent sexual activity and the results generate a lab form request to setup the relevant tests to take (eg. typical urine & blood sample and sometimes may require a throat swab etc.). The results turnaround was just a few days which includes the HIV & Syphillis result, particularly if it's a negative result. If positive, you will be contacted and you will obviously followup. The results for HIV & Syphillis don't show up on your regular Lifelabs account link (https://www.bc.mycarecompass.lifelabs.com) and so must enquire whether it's negative or positive result so it's nice to confirm a negative online via Getcheckedonline.com.
I mistakenly posted to this thread earlier today as it was last updated back on March 26, 2014.
