Yap woooooppppppy

Today in victoria / langford .gas was 98.9. And as I was waiting in line to put some in the price went to 97.9
I have not seen this for over 5 yrs...

So should we all by oil futures ..it is going to go up. Prob to 1.50 of more..and a barrel of oil will ho from 55$ abare yo over a 100$

A few thousand or 10,000 in future ..could get you a few hours died thousand ...
Not sure how far out you should buy.. but farther out the lower price. And it wi go up .
To bad I am only living on what money I make each day .

i don't think gas will be rising back to the highs it was this spring/summer,the price of oil/barrel has decreased significantly, and will prob continue to drop, and with OPEC saying they will not slow down production, it will stabilize for awhile, OPEC doesn't have the control and or iron fist monopoly over gas and oil prices they once did with US shale oil and Our own tar sands ramping up production...i expect prices will stay just below a $1/liter for awhile

Back in 08/09 when oil hit $35/barrel most people would swear it was going lower, it didn't. I don't have to pay for gas so I don't get to share in the savings.

There is some economic warfare going on.
Russia is dependent on oil and gas revenues for their government revenues, and by pushing the prices lower (thanks in part to Saudi Arabia supporting US strategic moves), it puts a severe crimp on what Russia can do, and its imperial ambitions. Also hurts Iran and their geopolitical moves in the Middle East.
The growth in US production of oil and oil-related products is one of the factors helping.

And what does it do for the Alberta oilsands? Makes it totally uneconomic... if the prices last at these levels.

While I share your joy, I should warn anybody off buying oil futures unless you understand what contango is and why you can lose money on this even if you knew the oil price would go up with 100% certainty.

In AB we're conflicted, luv the low fuel prices, Edm is 81.4 (-12 cents store coupon at superstore!)
it's not going to be good for the CAD dollar and the oil driven part of the economy,
but should improve manufacturing and transportation, hopefully at a similar rate...
The problem is that it's politically driven (unpredictable) and could change back overnight...

I agree futures of any kind have big risks. And you must understand your liability .. you trade them but sure as hell don't hold them till term

Well not sure about that
The price was 97.9 in one area but in victoria I just saw 1.06.9.?? 9 cents more !!

Part of the low prices is to get people out to do Christmas shopping and let think think they have more money to spend .. thing are not well in retail... let a loan the sex trade

Help out this old Yank.

I assume that this discussion is about liters (Whoops, make that litres).

How would these prices translate to gallons?

Yesterday, I saw gas for $2.55/gallon. And, that was in Vancouver, but not the Vancouver you all are discussing.

on yer ignore list
$US2.55/USgallon x 1.2USgallon/Impgallon = $US3.06/Impgallon x 0.22 Impgallon/litre = $US0.67/litre x 1.16$CDN/$US = $CDN0.78/litre in vancouver, oregon

i think... :D

Yah we get riper of gas .
Of course that is 3.785.. for an American gallon. Imperial is closer to 4.5 litres
At 96.9 × 3.785=$3.70 per us gsllon
So we have a long way to go till its j $2.55

Northern California, the land of the fruits and nuts.......If you don't turn one way, you turn the other..:D

Hey Mike, come up and visit us some time. ... We have some lovely ladies up here that'll cater to either one of those categories, and with your strong dollar you can probably negotiate one hell of a deal...:thumb:

2.45 a gallon at pilot in ferndale. unfortunately fuel is the only thing in the U.S. that absorbs the decline of the dollar as they decrease somewhat in sync. bought a roasted chicken sub in blaine on saturday for 7.83US. exchange was 1.185 so it was over $9.00CDN, which means its pretty much the same as canadian subways. dollar went to down to close to 85 cents today.
