just get a job at great canadian, and then you'll be banned from playing there or any great canadian facility. and if you're a dealer, you'll also see how much people can lose.

Play poker, only game where you have a viable chance of coming out ahead.

I've been working in the local casino's for almost 20 years. (Please don't ask which one)

All the newer, larger casinos were built on $25 and then $500 table limits. Now they're $5,000. The casinos are taking in more money than ever, though the industry is saturated with all the new casinos.

No one ever wins, ever! There are no systems! The casinos will readily admit that they are not in the gambling industry, strictly the entertainment industry. We know the house can't lose, so where's the gamble for the casino? There isn't one.

Sure there will be more than the occassional winner, but what they give back is nothing less than mind-boggling.

If you go to a casino to do anything other than to have fun, you need help...seriously.

As for poker, its still gambling and addictive, so don't kid yourself and stop watching poker on TV.

Well... isn't poker the only game where the house doesn't earn any money (except for the entrance fee and stuff). Poker isn't stacked against the player or anything, since it's just basically free-for-all between the contestants.

So you don't consider 9 against 1 to be stacked? There's 10 people at each table and those poker rooms are filled with a sharks to fish ratio of "Who knows?". However, its true, with a little luck you can win...at any game!

I'm just saying that when you join a poker table, it's not like every other player is the House except you. As for 9 against 1, it's more like 1 vs 1 vs 1 vs 1 vs 1 vs 1 vs 1 vs 1 vs 1 vs 1.

As for luck, you're just going against other players who doesn't have any advantage over you either, so it's "even". Plus it's a game where it isn't all about the numbers, so you can be good a pro at poker, whereas you can be a pro at slots, lol.

Poker is a lot more about skill than luck but at times luck still plays a huge factor, but if youre good you know when to take your chances :p

At the casino if youre a decent player there isnt that much money to be made here in bc. The stakes are like 1/2 NL & 2/5 NL,2/4 limit & 4/8 limit....there might be a tiny higher stake occassionally at these casinos but u gotta pay their hefty rake,gas/travel,put money in for bad beat, and tip. I've been playing for yrs and it's better to stay home and play at a online site and get a rakeback or bonus. Go to the casino have a bit of fun and dont expect much in return. Or you'll just be dissapointed.

I know people who have lost millions and others who have lost hundreds of thousands. All considered themselves "professional" gamblers. Always greedy, never stopping when ahead, never stopping when losing, always trying to win back the loses.

There are folks, known as grinders by the pit bosses, who can come in and win $300 most days, usually on blackjack or baccarrat. Once they win their $300 or lose $300, they walk out. Only with this kind of discipline and lower expectation of winning amount, does the grinder have a chance.

what are your experiences with casinos?
I went to Vegas in January, and never gamble, not even lottery tickets...however I had to try, so I played blackjack until I could barely see straight, a little too many gins ;) and I ended up up $100...not a lot but I was impressed with myself.

Over the past 25 years or so Casino's have been in Vancouver i would imagine i've made around $80,000.

On the other hand, i've probably lost around $130,000.

Gambling can become very addictive very quickly depending on your personality type. I know i can't control myself in the long run, so i rarely go now ... but i always go to win when i do ha ha.

Pay your bills first ... the Casino last, oh ... and always save a few bucks for drowning your sorrows lol.

The werd of experience. HH

JESUS!

And I thought the hobby was expensive!!!!

Of course, at my rate, it will be about 13 years before I rack up that tally on SP's, but still!!!

This is not true.

If a game has negative expectation, all strategy attempts that will lead to losing in the long term.

If:
1. there is a positive expectation, a good poker player, countable blackjack etc.

2. You are adequately bank rolled for the size of the game.

Then you don't have to limit your action.

The problem with online poker is,
too many people think they are the smart ones.
When really they aren't.

My buddy. Started out with $400 in online poker. He has turned it into over $3000.

Pretty good right? Fact is that is playing 4-5 hours a day for the last 2 years.
Works out to about $1 an hour. When I mention this to him, he replies "yeah but its $1 American!"

To actually play poker to earn a livable salary you have to play lots, and bet fairly heavy.
