She starts her statement with "She was watching a movie, Die Hard with the 4 year old"

Don't get me wrong its an all time shoot "em up classic but I'm not sure if its exactly 4 year old kid material! Mom should've been handcuffed with the nanny for not knowing what goes on in her house while she's out playing tennis!

Yeah, I'd be more upset that my four year-old was watching the glorified violence of Die Hard than that he saw a nude woman. There doesn't seem to be any hint of inappropriate touching or that anything sexual in nature occurred. I'd say, from the information provided, it's a whole lot of nothing, and this lady, admittedly probably not that bright, has ruined her life with this sex offender registration business. It seems quite harsh to throw her in a database with pedophiles due to this situation.

Hi Bushpilot, I am not prone to disagreeing with anyone here but....?

This is not normal adult behaviour for a then 22 y/o. If it was a man on the couch think what would have happened. Would it look as innocent ?
I think this is a good sign; that the courts take this seriously regardless of the offenders sex.

I agree with the Die Hard comment. More bad judgement on her part, just perhaps not criminal.

I hope she gets some effective counselling.

As a nudist(18+ years) I am quite disturbed by this trend to classify nudists as perverts. The woman should definatly appeal the sentence. At least she should have explained that she runs a nudist household and that everyone who visits has to be nude. Of course it could be that the woman is disturbed, if that's the case, then she she should seek out care not get punished.

I would like to reccomend an excellent book: Family Nudes by Ralf Mohr. It is a german book and very pricy, but it has hundereds of photos of naked families of all ages, it's quite entertaining and moving at the same time.

Nude is not lewd!

I'm quite happy to see her get tagged as a sex offender and end up on a pedophile database. No one would think twice if this was a guy found nude with a 4 year old.

On the other hand, it does seem pretty easy to end up as a registered sex offender. Women's groups have been campaigning for a broader definition for years and will have to remember that it can cut two ways.

I'm still going to stick with my original opinion that this case has been overblown. Like I said, there is no allegations of sexual touching or even sexual conversation here. All she did was expose the child to nudity. This, along with showing the kid a highly inappropriate movie, is grounds for her being fired from her job, not for her being labelled a pedophile for the rest of her life. North American society has this great paranoia about nudity that is unwarranted. Just look at the whole Janet Jackson episode at last year's Super Bowl. A naked body is just a naked body. In itself, there is nothing sexual about nudity.

ped·o·phil·i·a ( P ) Pronunciation Key (pd-fl-, pd-)
n.
The act or fantasy on the part of an adult of engaging in sexual activity with a child or children.

Now, I ask you Catalynn, Rickoshadows, where is the sexual component in this case that would qualify this woman as a pedophile? Stupidity is not the same as perversion.

Perhaps I read a different report than you did, but there was nothing about her letting the kid touch her breasts and pussy. If you can point out where that is in the report, I'll readily change my position on this matter. If that were the case, I think it would take on a more sexual component and the charges would be justified. However, I haven't seen where that touching was reported.

Oops, I have now looked back at the report and read the second page. I missed that the first time. So, there was inappropriate touching after all. That changes things in my mind. I still stand by my comments about hyper-paranoia over nudity in North American society, though.
