since the introduction of nagra 3 our only choice for fta is IKS (internet key sharing) which could bite us in the ass if the providers seize the servers that are providing the keys we need.If that happens they could log whoever has been using the service and come after us,and dishnet and bell play for keeps and wouldnt think twice about suing for huge amounts of money.Do I think this will happen? probably not.
The plus is very little down time and depending which receiver you choose you will receive some pay per views.I may have missed one or two UFC events in the last few years but I also have a pile of obsolete receivers stacked up in the basement. What works today may go down tomorrow so you take your chances.
Before anyone asks me what receivers I have running at this time, heres my list...
NFusion Phoenix (standard definition mpeg2) dishnet only for now
NFusion Nuvenio (high definition mpeg4) dishnet only for now
Conaxsat Nano2 (standard definition mpeg2) dishnet and bell
Limesat Ultra (standard definition mpeg2) dishnet and bell
All 4 of the above get UFC events, limesat gets them on bell as well.Conaxsat Nano2 usually shows at least one PPV movie per weekend, they are showing Robin hood today.
More bad news as dishnet is changing over to mpeg4 only which will render the mpeg2 boxes obsolete probably within the next year, you can expect bell to follow suit.
So in short you pay your money and take your chances.
