Nope....but there's lots o' dough to be made there. SP's will visit and stay in a motel to service oil/gas industry workers....some selectin, but count on higher prices due to demand exceeding supply

If there's nothing in Fort St. John then you can always motor across the border into Grande Prairie. There's at least one MP there.

Almost everybody there has an insane paying oil industry job. Companies are so desperate they'll actually pay for your training if you are willing to work, and you take home about $100k/+benefits and tax breaks easily.

But yeah, you're working on an oil rig in -30deg weather

Check here: http://www.whatoiljobs.com/ and a million other websites desperately trying to get roughnecks

A northern living allowance is usually a tax break to help you out with buying food ect., because everything is expensive as hell. (Ie: in Nunavut, you can pay up to $10 for a 2L of milk)

Usually how it works is that companies fly you out to a camp for 14days to a month from Ft. St. John to work EVERY DAY, for 12-14hr shifts (fully paid overtime) in the middle of N. Alberta/arctic somewhere. Then you fly back for some RnR with more money than you know what to do with. Usually the entire camp is paid for, (ie: all your food/drink everything) so you are just making money in the bank.

Not everybody makes that kind of money but if you are a slightly experienced oil rig roughneck you will with all the insane overtime
