Yeah, not so much. Unlocking removes the carrier lock from the device. it does NOT change any feature set available on the device (that is controlled by the installed ROM).
If you have a locked S II and you pay the $10 or so to unlock it, nothing will be different about that device except that it will accept the SIM Cards from other carriers.
Feature sets are controlled by the ROM of a phone not by whether it is locked or unlocked.
PS Being locked or unlocked should not be confused with being Jailbroken (Apple) or Rooted (Android) which is a totally different process of gaining control to previously hidden/unavailable features in the phones ROM.
