Last friday night i picked up some beer, came home and put it into the freezer to cool them down quickly. Some friends come over ready for some beers, but we decided to go out for the night.
Today i opened up the freezer to get some ice cream and to my horror, I discovered my beer was still in the freezer, frozen solid.
Anyone have any ideas if the beer will still be good after it thaws out?
Alexander Keith's if it helps

If you plan or drinking warm beer right away, fill up a bucket full of cold water, throw in some ice and then put in the beers. Should get cold fairly quick.

The beer must have been in cans. If it was in bottles, it would either have popped the caps or broken the glass when it froze. I once froze some beer cans. The zip tops didn't pop, but the cans were deformed - the bottoms were rounded from the expansion, and the cans wouldn't stand up after the beer thawed out.

There was no significant difference in taste, though.

No difference in taste? You must have been drinking that tasteless light beer.

REAL beer tastes pretty bad after it has been frozen and thawed. Personally, i'd chalk it up to a loss, and buy a new case.

I NEVER drink light beer, even if it's free. It was a dark German bock beer, and I didn't notice much of a difference in taste. I only drink REAL beer too. I thawed it out slowly over two or three days in the fridge, not rapidly at room temperature or higher.

Whenever i end up freezing beer by accident I use it as a meat marinade for roasts or for bbq'ing whole chicken. If you didnt know about that little trick here's how; get a whole chicken, fit it upside down on the open beer can and either place it in a roasting pan and put it in the oven or on the bbq. I will usually put it on one side of the bbq and leave that side off then turn the opposite side on high heat; While I down a 6 pack of not previously frozen beer ;)

This won't answer your question, but it sure is cool:

This is from it being below freezing temperature but not to far below, the alcohol keeps it liquid till you slam it.

Beer will freeze in bottles no problem, never had the bottles break or caps pop off. Have this happen when camping and putting beer in the snow to cool off all the time.May not be that way with all beer but it is with Kokanee anyways. I can put up with previously frozen beer when I am roughing it.

i find that the alcohol and beer seperates and the taste gets all fucked up, at least after thawed from frozen. where i am from we would buy warm beer and put it in snowbank to chill go inside wait a hour and have ice cold beer or if we smoked too many it was ruined!

Frozen beer....fyi.. interesting

About the can itself - which way up was the can when you froze it? if it has frozen most of the dissolved CO2 will have come out of solution and be pushing very hard on the beer. If it was the right way up this would probably cause it to go flat very quickly, if it was upside down then it would cause it to work like an aerosol can.

The other effect will be that if you have a mixture of ice and water in their the ice crystals will act as a main site for bubbles - bubbles often need somewhere to start forming which is why if you put a spoonful of coke in someone's coke it goes crazy.
