Was telling this person the other day how expensive kids are. This person laughed at me saying the govt gives him 300 per child and he has 3 kids. Told me he spends less than 60.00 per kid a month. This person then goes off bragging of how much money he's making off this. Also, he explains why he doesnt want to earn much per year cause the govt would take away this benefit. I know many people who've had 2-4 kids just cause it's so profitable:mad:

yeah there was this family living across the alley a while back. they must have had 6 kids or something. they lived in a small little basement suite. the kids wrecked havoc. they were noisy, inconsiderate, annoying little brats. the neighbors would surmise that the parents had all these kids due to the money they would get from it. if that's the case, what a shame.

I know three people who are doing this. There are people who love canada cause the govt will support their kids for them
Back in the garage with my bullshit detector
Carbon monoxide making sure it’s effective
People ringing up making offers for my life
But I just wanna stay in the garage all night....

From my experience kids are actually very cheap until they hit about 4 years old. Everybody gives you stuff like clothes and toys (hand me downs or new) so you don't have to spend much on that. Really only need to get a car seat. The food costs are minimal, they just don't seem to eat much. If you dine out, they just eat a few fries or whatever. In fact kids saved us money because they force you to stay home because you don't want to deal with taking them out anywhere.

When they get to around 4, they seem to start eating a lot more and become more independent in their thinking. So you have to get them their own meal when you go out. That suddenly makes eating out that much more expensive. They also start wanting things they never had an opinion on before like expensive video games or whatever.

Later in life they will really start to cost you money with clothes and post secondary education and all that.

I know people who don't make much money that have lots of kids and are happy. Indeed the government subsidies must help out a lot there. Personally I'm not a big fan of it as I generally just think there are too many people on this planet and we don't need a government encouraging more (the current government with its moral slant would really want to encourage this I think). If you can't afford them don't have them is my thought.

kids are not cheap

Anybody who thinks raising kids is cheap needs a reality check
I have raised a child (and came from a familty of 5 kids) and when the child was young 60 dollars a month or even 300 a month would never do it. As a child grows the costs go up dramatically. The amount you get from the government to help with child expenses will never make it profitable to have kids. Any body who claims it is profitable need to take some accounting courses because the math is not working out.

Some of these people think 300.00 is huge $$ cause they come from 3rd world countries. They have no clue how much it cost to raise kids in north america. For them spending 40-50.00 on their child is plenty and they also think it's profitable:rolleyes:

Try 25K a year for post secondary university after 4 years at 6K annually
for private high school.

Now add the 400 / mo for the car lease so said student can get back and forth to school, 300 mo for ski trips, 1000 for hockey gear etc etc.

Kid works all summer every year but at 13 / hr can't save anything
substantial.

Glad there is only one. Have a friend who has just had #8, that's right 8.
He will be broke the absolute rest of his days on earth.

I lost interest in ever having a kid when I started working full time and I realized how hard life really is.

to support a child at bare minimum is easy. to have that child excel is expensive. ya, i can say that a bag of rice and some cheap deli meats are enough to feed the child but giving them proper food, proper clothes, education and so forth ain't cheap. if you're gonna have kids atleast have the responsibility to make sure they grow up to stand on their own. my kind (east indians) are some of the worst offenders when it comes to milking govt handouts and not understanding the impact of their actions. but i suppose every race might be able to say that about some of their own.

If you think the little bastards are expensive to raise, wait till you have to pay them to leave home!

"Dad, I need a hundred bucks" turns into "Dad, I need a thousand bucks because I dropped the transmission out of my car!" And if you don't fork it over, he can't get to work, loses his job and ends up home anyway. The $1000 was cheaper in my estimation. I must admit, its been a couple of years now, and all are doing very well own their own except the one who is dealing with a heart conditon which wasn't discovered until his early twenties.

I admit it may be cheaper to raise kids that will end up begging on the street or breaking into your car to support their habit etc. But anyone who thinks raising motived self reliant adults is cheap has absolutley no fricken clue. Beside the actual cash is the tremendous time and emotional toll. Don't get me wrong I'm glad I did it, but if I really known what was involved I would have thought about it a lot longer.

Maybe from a financial standpoint they are. But the emotional impact on the woman is a higher price than anyone should ever have to pay. Unfortunately, most guys that end up in that situation are too self-absorbed to ever fuckin' notice, or just too big of an asshole to give a shit. I've seen it so many times.

While I personally think people should be taxed for having more than one child I know why the government is doing this: basically we are going to need a huge work force to pay for all of the retirees. Same thing with immigration. They increased the quota from around 200,000 to 300,000.

That $300 per month is a fixed cost as it only gets paid until age 18. For retirees the costs of OAS or CPP could last up to 35 or maybe even 40 years - not to mention the massive health care costs involved in keeping someone relatively healthy during that time period.

Don't expect real estate to drop in price any time soon.

13 / hr usually means per hour or at an hour. I will assume you are saying that kids at thirteen cannot save anything substantial OTHERWISE you are a real rich bastard who has leggos.

I assume you're kidding. Right? You are kidding?

After reading repeatedly your post I blush.
