So watching the news tonight I ran into a commercial I had problem with and a item on the news.
The commercial was the Nature Valley one where the little girl is talking about getting out of the house and going back to nature to get inspiration. Well my problem is that a 7 year old girl dosen't think those thoughts; the thoughts/example were adults thoughts about what children should do instead of being in the house with their modern devices. Adults thoughts of their childhood nostalgia of playing outside with other kids, talking to other kids, and looking up to the stars for inspiration. As if the child in that comercial had those thoughts.... as if all kids had those thoughts....
The second thing was the news item about the facelift of the Chateau Laurier in Ottawa across from the Parliment buildings. Its a heritage building, so the city council had to approve changes to the building. The city council approved them with recommendations. Then there was a public outcry by some "little miss I have nothing better to do, because I missed the approval meeting". or was it that Somebody in Newfoundland objected to the change, I don't know but its redonkleless..... The city council wants the hotel to change its plan, when they already approved them.... F**king bureaucrats.... when the wind shifts they want to smell pretty....
My problem is the heritage building crap.... Something important happened there 100 years ago (some bleeding heart lost her virginity there or something), we have to preserve the building in its original format. That costs money that the building owners really can't afford (as if people will pay money to go see a rundown heritage building). For heritage buildings to replace a railing on a stairs, it has to be the same type of wood and same age, using the same methods to install/make. So to find a piece of wood 100 years old, is just about inpossible, most people 80 years ago burnt that wood to warm themselves in winter. So your better off going to home depot and buying a railing and using a propane torch, age the wood, put some nicks and dents in it. Charge the company 2500.00 for a 50.00 railing from home depot. Or try finding a iron gate thats not rusted to shit....
For the hertitage buildings that are currently in disrepair..... Take some pictures of the builiding and rooms and then burn it to the ground; and collect the insurance money and build something a little more modern, like a skyscrapper.... On the new building put a plaque stating why the previous building was an heritage building. This would be progress.
