You may have heard the story of this woman in Iran sentenced to death by stoning.

The following is a link to the story and the opportunity to sign a petition opposing hers and all stoning deaths.

http://freesakineh.org/

Will the petition make any difference?

I don't know, but it may be worth a try.

You gotta be kidding me!

As if a petition will save her or the many who are still rotting in Iranian jails after last year's "elections".

If you want to change Iran and fight the radical Islamist regime that is in power you need to:
1) Write your MP to enforce sanctions on Iran and severe diplomatic relations with Russia who's helping them develop nukes.
2) Boycott/divest from Iranian and Russian products.
3) Petition the useless UN to call upon a re-election in Iran

PS Where are all the Farsi expats with their $millions?

By all means, please do so.

I think if these muslims want to stone each other to death, go to it! Just don't be stoning christians and jews and even buddists and especially us whites because of the color of our skin.

That's a pretty ignorant thing to say but I'm sure you are well aware of that.

I also think so.
They hate our freedoms, that's why they attacked us. They also hate that our women are free, that's why they attack their women when they act like our women, that is, when they have affairs, drive cars, wear skirts, or don't do the cooking.

Anyway, I saw a girl talking about this on Joy Behar the other night and she said that sigining the online petition does make a difference. The people in power will bend thier ear if enough people sign and show awareness. So sign the petition.
Signing the petition makes a difference. The regime is very mindful of bad publicity, once they arrest a political activist they usually threaten the family not to give any interviews to the foreign media or their loved one will suffer more. And in most cases it is the other way around: more exposure means better outcomes for the activist in terms of jail time and treatment. The case of Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani is not different as reported by Guardian:

"Sakineh has been under big pressure since the world has paid attention to her case", a source close to her family told the Guardian. "Recently she was questioned and asked to advise her children to remain silent, otherwise they will be arrested too. International attention is the only hope for Sakineh's release", the source added.

Sakineh's lawyer, Mohammad Mostafaei, has received a letter from the Iranian intelligence service summoning him to a meeting in Evin prison in the next three days to "clarify certain issues".

Mostafaei is an acclaimed lawyer who volunteered to represent Sakineh when he heard her story.

At best this is true. At worst you've wasted two minutes of your time.
