French President Jacques Chirac has officially raised the French terror alert level from "Run" to "Hide". There are only two higher levels in France- they are "Surrender" and "Collaborate".

The rise was precipitated by a recent fire which destroyed France's white flag factory - effectively crippling the French military.

Lisa.....France is a great place and you will have a fun trip......

It is likely Paris is in your plans.....

But be sure to stay a few nights in a small French village....

I stayed in a small town where no English was spoken at all. I had a few problems on the first day....but after that I was OK.....likely the word spread through out the town that I was there and it was funny to watch me order dinner......I just pointed at a menu item....and ate what they brought me.....I did master "vin rouge"...with a horrible accent...but I always got my wine......

I also went to Lyon.....a medieval town that still has building and streets that are thousands of years old......

So let me take a page from the Canadian banter…..I like the French people it is the French government and Jack Chirac that I hate…….

Yes, it was over 2 centuries ago (not a long time on the grand scale), but the magnitude of its importance in American history is so fucking huge, you'd think they'd remember it.

The freedom of the United States, yes that freedom they speak so much about, was won due to an alliance with France. If not for them, they'd have been England's colony for who knows how long, maybe still.

Actually makes that whole "freedom fries" nonsense pretty ironic.

Having said that, the joke is pretty funny. I give LD his credit.

Herb….I could not resist……let see when I say something that is close to what the WH said….I am quoting from their talking points……..drinking the cool-aid……..toting the party line……….or basically not think for my self……..
