I have a few friends that are opposed to it all together. Honestly, I do not see the problem with giving up some basic info anonymously. Sure they could get your IP with the transmission over the internet but do we really have all those civil servants with nothing better than to track IP's?

The upside to answering it is your community may benefit from the census. Just sayin . . .

I had to fill it out in 2 places. I was putting it off in my in call, I never done it before I figured they will stop bodering me.
Then I got another note on my door and they threatened me to visit.
Right away I did it.
They still came out to my in call rang my buzzer, I let them in and they took me to jail. I'm typing from there. It's been 2 weeks, and I'm eating the jail food, made a good friend with a lesbian. We might get married when we get out. Lol
Kiddin......
They did ring my buzzer, I was sitting and talking with one of my regular in the livingroom. I told them through the intercom I just did it and they left. :clap2:
LOL Euro...but seriously, when they ask your income, do you tell them 185K a year tax free or Unemployed and Broke? ;-)

I'm working for the Census... and hurry up people! Potential punishment.... 1000 bucks and/or 6 months in jail.
If you're all concerned about privacy, just only do the 2A form that's mandatory. All it ask is for your name, birth date and what language you speak.... nothing too private. It's the N1 that is a bit in-depth, asking for your education level, income, property value, etc. Fortunately, it's optional for that one.

As for just saying you're done, even if you're not.... it just means I (as in we) will have to keep calling you and come knocking on your door until you do it. We get paid by the hour ($15/hour), so we have plenty of time to just stand there and keep knocking until you come out, lol.

Lancaster will come after you now!!!! lol
Nah, I can care less, lol. If I don't hand in completed forms, the supervisors and higher ups will think I'm slacking off or skewing my hours.
So, handing in forms with fake information, or even incomplete ones will still be better than handing in none.

Did it online, took me longer than this post.

I worked on the 91 census as a coder. Fun times.
The best was back then they had a comment section on the back page.
Some people get so angry.

Do it and lie your ass off. Before the long form became mandatory I told them I was a Hungarian who spoke Ethiopian at home. I had a annual income of $500 and had 17 relatives living with me. They just sell the data to marketing companies and I hate the government knowing anything about me. They can make you fill it in but they can't tell you what a "right" answer is.
That is one dinner table I would like to be invited to!

in another thread here in the lounge, Charles was complaining about being banned from the Erslist social network for violating their rules. the opinion of most posters was, 'those are the rules of the network - comply with them or get banned'

well, filling out your census form is one of the rules in Canada. fill'em out or get banned?

you may have a philosophical objection to filling out census forms, but the proper place to address your objections is by working to change the legislation, not by petulantly refusing to cooperate with the law

lol

Is there a number I can call to phone in my response?
You can call 1-877-777-2011, but sometimes it's really busy. I think you also need your GEO_ID (if a census staff left you a slip) or that number that is from the census form you should have received. Should you have either of those info, it would probably be easier to just fill it out online.
Of course, should you ever want a good looking census staff to knock on your door, "Ummm.... yeah... hi! I hear you need help on your census..." *Cheesy 70's porno music in the background*
hahaha

Excellent point vancity_cowboy but then I wouldn't have be able to read about EuroSZabina's lesbian relationship with her new cell-mate. It's all good. : )

Peace.

Having lived a "rock star life" a couple of decades ago, I rarely fantasize now. There's a lot of talent I would like to connect with when the time permits but that's about it. Regardless, thank you very much for correcting my post.

Peace.
my suggested correction was meant to be that 'fantasy' could be a lot wilder than 'reading' lol

cheers

hehe Do the census staff wear uniforms?
Census staff just dress anyway they like. Since it's hot and sunny outside, I just wear shorts plus a polo shirt or something.
But to answer your question.... I guess it's hypothetically possible a census staff may want to wear their own personally selected uniform..... kinda odd, but doable.... lol

Some of them wear pretty short sundresses and have yummy boobies:)

She just left knocked on my door about census. I would like to know who let her in the building as it is suppose to be secure...we have our little cameras at all entrance and exit doors as well as all parking. I suppose she was a pretty girl so some fine gentleman let her in.
Same thing happened to me... Some census guy came and knocked on my door without buzzing. I'm guessing the office must have let him in, but I find that a bit obnoxious. Ah well, took 3min to do and no major personal info was given :)
Actually, building managers are required by law to let census staff in, but usually once you say you're from Statistics Canada to do the census, most residents/postal worker/whoever lets you in without reservations.

Just a rumor but I was told in australia after the olympics they also got really pushy with the census. The reason they did it was to see how many out of country property owners there were. They were planning on increasing the propertry tax by a huge amount on non citizens.

A few years ago my old roomate and I played census chicken. Neither of us wanted to do it so we just ignored the letters, phone messages and slaves who knocked on our door. Finally I broke and filled out the form. From what I remember we were a wiccan homosexual couple with...like 10 sudanese babies who made $100,000 a year busking.

So I filled in my census back in May as soon as I got it. Printed out the receipt as a pdf on my desktop.

I went away last week and get home to a voice mail from Gov't saying I haven't filled mine in and have to phone them.

Phoned them yesterday and waited approx 45 minutes on hold and then hung up.

F**K em, they can come to my house to see the receipt. How friken useless is this system?
