I have to admit, I hate anyone being scammed, so after I got burned I felt like I needed to let ya'll know about it. What's wierd...is this (she) may actually be legit....or its quite the set-up. I was in PG (Prince George) last week for work and came across her "verified" LL add. I know that doesnt always mean anything, but it looked good as far as ads go. The other thing, is she has a website (that you can book from) and also a twitter feed (that again seesm legit). So I attempted to book, nd she does require a deposit (again....a lot do these days and I have given them before with SP's that had legit looking set ups like this one). She was very communiucative with text and we had a planned Outcall to my Hotel. about 5mins to the agrreded time, she said she had "an emergency" and would not be able to make it. She said she could give me back my deposit to a bitcoin account or try and see me another time as she tours. She said she couldnt e-transfer back though...hmmmmmm......So I continued to talk to her over text (which was odd as she could have ghosted me after she got the $$) and thats when she asked where I lived (I said Kelowna.....but I actually don't live there, but I am in the Okanagan). She said she was coming there next week for a while, and even sent me an address! Ok, but I wanted to see you that night, and not neccesarily when I'm back "home" She did apologize and then her phone was about to die, so ahe would get back to me to figure something out as she felt bad. That was 5 days ago. Nothing. Then I checked out LL Kelowna just to see......and there was her ad for there! I texted her but no response. The man behind this has new names, new pics, new ads and new phone numbers by now.
You can safely assume that if they ask for a deposit, it's a scam.
People keep falling for it. I've never understood why guys send money to throwaway email addresses, rather than just moving on to the next ad.
you also have to remember they have your full name when you send an etransfer. You don’t want a paper trail in this industry
There are more fake ads on Leolist than real ones. This will continue until people stop falling for the scams.
I know you shouldnt send deposits (althought I have before with certain SP's that had reviews and websites etc and it was never a problem). I was more concerned that so much much effort was put into this one, as well as communication after the fact (which was unessacry at that point since the money was already sent). I get it, you really can't trust LL and you should never give a deposit, as well as the paper trail etc. I don't want sympathy, just wanted others to be aware of this "more elaborate than most" scams. Appreciate the feedback as always.
Thank you for sharing your experience. It takes courage to tell The world about being scammed. It is post like yours that I was saved early on. I follow no deposit policy strictly No matter how tempting and legit the ad looks.
Another step I follow is i check other region ads e.g. lower mainland and other city, usually these scammer run the same ad across multiple cities and that’s a huge red flag.
