OMG Veronica you ate that! How did that happen? You are Miss Good Food. I would never even dream that such food would make it to your lips.

Freshly picked mangosteen, "the queen of tropical fruit." David Fairchild, 1903. Can eat them all day.

Passion fruit with vanilla ice cream. And I chew the seeds!! (This used to drive my poor old mother bonkers when I was a kid and had the passion fruits available fresh from the back yard).

Before I relocated from False Creek, you would often find passion fruit at Granville Market fruit and vege stalls. That being said, the skins were always smooth? Tasted OK, but of course "old memories/recollections" are sometimes suspect. Many eons back, I recall the skins were slightly "dimpled." I certainly hadn't loss my craving for them currently, but I felt the dimpled variety excelled. (It could be from whence the passion fruits are imported?) Or, are there several varieties? Or more simply are the dimpled fruit a more mature version of the smooth-skinned fruit to which I previously referred? Hell, as a growing puppy, I just ate them, albeit noisily.

And I previously passed over my more-exotic taste treat and failed to trumpet the virtues of the more mundane MANGO. But what a taste treat: a mango left at room temperature for several days explodes with sensual flavor! And when either fruits are accompanied by an elegant sauterne . . . WOW!!
