I think everyone should grow/raise their own food. All of it. And for the rest of your families too. You wouldn't have time to do anything else and then you may appreciate farmers and ranchers more.

:pop2: and this is organic popcorn too.

If you follow the Bavarian Purity Law craft beer is much cleaner than major breweries. Major breweries have the following in their product. This includes some of the most notable beer like Budweiser, Corona and even Guinness which are often viewed as high quality by consumers. It's no different than good organic wine (of which I know you appreciate).

GMO Corn Syrup
GMO Corn
High Fructose Corn Syrup
Fish Bladder
Propylene Glycol
Monosodium Glutamate (MSG)
GMO Sugars
Caramel Coloring
Insect-Based Dyes
Carrageenan
BPA
Good quality beer needs only 4 things....good water/good malt/good hops(pellet or whole leaf) and good yeast to do all of the work once a brewer has done his work in making the WORT.If you want color for say and amber ale then a percentage of the malt profile should be amber or cara malt.Same thing goes for mouth feel etc.As for aroma and bitterness that comes down to the hop profile.Yeast also makes a difference depending on what you want be it an ale or a lager with a shitload of variations and twists.

As for clearing/refining adjuncts Irish Moss or Whirlfloc tablets should be used.Isinglass is fishbladder and it is a clearing adjunct and personally I dont like chill haze.

I have bottled 3 batches of beer thus far(I mostly keg my beer) and I have given out generous samples of those bottled batches and have only gotten rave reviews.I make fuckin awesome beer.

High Fructose Corn Syrup(HFCS) is the worst thing to happen to both the soft drink industry as well as the brewing industry. If you ever travel to Mexico grab a glass bottle of Coke and taste the difference between HFCS and pure cane sugar.Apples and Oranges.

Don’t have to go to Mexico for REAL Coke. You could get it in San Diego. Sugar Coke from ice cold bottles...man that’s good stuff! I can’t drink regular Coke anymore (maybe the 8oz cans after a hot workout), starts to upset my stomach and coat my mouth.

HFCS is pushed (jammed down our throat) by industry - it’s residual stuff from corn production so they’re looking to maximize money on a North American crop. With the last sugar mill closed down (in Maui) the US has no more “local” sugar, so HFCS is probably pushed as “local” as well.

If I’m bored I’ll look up the chemical difference between pure sugar and HFCS; I used to assume it was the same stuff, just in different form.

Pepsi sells a retro version made with actual sugar, as a niche product.
Kosher Pepsi and kosher Coca Cola are both made with dextrose instead of HFCS.

HFCS is easier to store and process than granulated sugar, so it is easy to add to highly processed food.
That is why it is in so many things where sugar does not belong, or would be difficult to add.

Coca Cola is, simply, liquid death. The sugar content is atrocious. 39g (9+ teaspoons) per 355 ml can. A full day's maximum recommendation for an average male.
And you can buy your Mexican Coke in glass bottles at Costco in Bellingham. I did for years, and might even again.
Cane sugar vs processed white sugar? Sure, cane may not be "as bad" but it still ain't good.
And fruit juice is just about as bad- even that without sugar added. Eat your fruit- don't drink it.
And this coming from a guy that has a real problem with cutting back on cola in his mixed drinks.

Rum neutralises the coke, right?
