Kingyo on Davie
Bibo (?sp) on west fourth for fine italian atmosphere and deadly pizza-great for a first date to impress
Bao Bei (?sp) chinatown by the night market
L'Abattoir Possibly the best of all of them.
The Keefer on Keefer for desert donuts and dip mmmm
Rodneys for oysters in yaletown
Flying pig if you love brussel sprouts like I do, or a red eye on Sunday morning!!
Yeah, Rodney's during happy hour after work is great :) Fresh oysters and beer ftw!

Watch out for some fancy places, i was walking behind one and the two cooks were sitting in the back, one was smoking spitting on the ground and picking his nose... and the other was scratching at his scaly skin on his calf, ( heard him telling the other about his skin problem) You just cant beat fresh fish, homemade sausage, garden veggies.......mmmmmmmmmm
Eww.. And you do not remember which restaurant this was?

Les faux bourgeois - French - fraser and kingsway. Well priced, entrees are $20 or less.

Che Baba - Mediterranean - fraser and kingsway. Well priced as well.

Sienna - Italian - haven't been there myself but I've heard good things about them. South Granville area, also well priced

The "Italian Kitchen" on Alberni is still a fun spot , great ambiance , fabulous platters to share and does not break the bank.

If you want unpretentious but still want great French food (a difficult task!) Faux Bourgeois does fit that bill. Really fantastic. Also there's a great new coffee shop that opened on this same block that roasts their own coffee - I cant remember the name but it is easy to spot - good for before dinner meet up on a date.

I like going to Yugi's that used to be in Kitsilano on 4th ave. I don't think it's there anymore but their sushi were amazing!

Another place I like is just a shawarma downtown
