3 Canadian teams who will now hone their skill on the golf course.
Didn't see the Flameout not getting into the top 8.

Re the Cannots...

Loogie Horked the 2nd Lanche goal.....major.
Put it in himself............weak on the first also.

lou should of had the 1st goal i believe in pee wee they teach you to keep your stick on the ice and the 2nd goal was himself.. Sorry lou you dont get a pt or assist if you put it in your own net.. Imo van is in trouble in the playoffs since we lost johnson and erhoff. Lou is terrible for 7 mil

Hopefully this spells the demise in Calgary of both of the incompetent Sutter brothers--the clueless general manager who destroyed the team and its farm system by mismanaging the cap and bad trades, as well as the overrated coach who may have been able to intimidate juniors but his shtick wore thin with experienced veterans.
ferris my man! Sounds like you were listening to Ray Ferarro on the team 1040 this morning;)

In all honesty that team needs to be blown up. Too many coaches have been blamed for under achieving players.
One thing I will say is, Iginla can play on my team anytime....he is an absolute warrior!

feels so different this year, sure a few teams have a lot of points but no one seems too intimidating a force. Like if you have scoring, you don't have goaltending... so many question marks on all the teams. Maybe Phoenix will win the cup since nobody still believes them :)

Calgary spent way to much money on goal and defence and nothing on offence. Second lowest scoring team in the league. Boumeister vs Cammaleri. Who do you think they need more right now. The Oilers just have to much money tied up in under-acheiving players, Horchoff, Moreau, Pisani, O'Sullivan. If they could just unload those guys and sign some bigger tougher guys, especially on defence, then I think they'll do OK in the next few years. At least Edmonton didn't trade away they're number one draft picks. Not yet anyways.

I'm from Edmonton and I will be cheering for the Canadian teams, though I doubt any will get past the second round. If the Canucks meet the Wings in the first round, it will be over the Nucks in 6.

Horcoff - The Oilers are stuck with him. One can only hope he regains the scoring touch he had 2 seasons ago.
Souray - is another big contract that they can flip for more cap space, but I hope he stays on.
Moreau - has one year left on his contract, so they can buy him out if they can't trade him. If he stays, I doubt he'll remain captain.
Pisani - contract is up and it's unlikely they will re-sign him.
Comrie - ditto, although I'd like to see him stay on because of the celebrity factor (Hillary Duff).
O'Sullivan - he would have to be a throw-in to a trade.
Goalies - what will they do with Bulin, JDD and Dubnyk?

With the rookie talent coming aboard next season - Hall or Seguin, Eberle, Omark, Pääjärvi-Svensson - plus the possibility of signing Jagr with play with Hemsky, the Oilers should be better next year.

The team also needs to figure out why the team has hit 500 man-games of injuries. Is it their training and exercise programs? The coaching? The type of players they have?

As for the Calgary Flakes - the Sutters are numbered, and I've read rumblings about trading Iggy. They're going to have a tougher time rebuilding. There aren't many outstanding prospects, and they don't draft until the 3rd round this summer. The Phaneuf trade will hurt them in the long-term.

Ray Ferarro is an idiot homer...

Iginla is a tired old man on the wrong side of the hill...

he does not make players around him better...

he still has something to offer, but in a supporting role...

he has become complacent in Calgary...

he needs a change of scenery...

if he could play Norway and Germany 82 times a year he might score 50 goals again...

I think with the Flames definitely need to rebuild and get a whole lot younger. If they continue the same course they will be average at best but never a real contender. If I were them I would trade Iginla and others to get some good young prospects as well as high draft picks.

A few years at the bottom of the league may also be good to get a young superstar(s) - this formula seems to have worked for teams like Pittsburgh and Tampa Bay, both recent Stanley Cup champions as well as Chicago - this year's likely winner.

If we meet Detroit in the first round .... its gonna be Tee-time with the Oilers and Flames. I just hope we play LA Kings in the first round (just because they are an inexperienced young team). I think Canucks let them win the last game so they can move higher in the standings than Detroit)
