This may be a little late; but every gym I've ever been to allowed me to try it out as a guest for a week. I would have done that before signing up as it gives you a chance to get a feel for the place and see if it's right for you.
On their website, they did have 1-day guest pass. Anyway, they said that I could cancel without any penalty in next 10 days. So, I guess it doesn't really matter.

Get a trainer from an independant source and do not use under-skilled "trainers" that gyms offer. Call around and meet with couple of prospective trainers and take your pic.

You can then get your membership from any gym, best if it's conveniently situated in your work/home nieghborhood though.

Good luck, hope it works out!

I would avoid the big gyms and join a small more personalized gyms. Or go somewhere where you can hire your own personal trainer. I hate the though of being stuck with a trainer (or group) that just don't do it for me.

There are some great small gyms an although they are expensive I think you more than get your moneys worth. Innovative Fitness is a terrific company that is worth checking out.
