I know that this is a vague and perhaps naive question but here goes.
If I'm giving oral sex (daty) to a woman who is having unprotected intercourse with another man, what are my risks. I have some reason to suspect that this gentleman may be somewhat promiscuous himself protected or not. Sorry I know that's pretty general. I'm also not sure how to search the forum for an answer to this question.

It is really difficult to work out this type of risk as there are so many variables. What I can do is give you some general information.
I guess there are two different parts to this risk.
(1) What is the risk of having daty with someone who has an STI
(2) What is the chance of your partner having an STI.
With the first one I would recommend having a look at our STI risks chart which gives a general idea of risk based on the type of sex you have if the person has an infection.

With the second one it really depends on what is happening in the woman’s sex life.
On one hand I meet many people who have multiple partners and seem to have a low risk for STI. If someone gets tested on a regular basis, discuss STI with partners and has an open discussion about when to use protection and what type of sex is ok.
On the other hand her risk could be high if she is having unprotected sex with someone who is also having unprotected sex with other people.
