Ok not much of a soccer fan but oh my I would love to get repeated red cards on some of those hotties, the Americans have some serious ahem talent and I don't mean kicking the ball, but....

Something to be said about health and fitness

Japan was screwed from the 1st minute. They lost the coin toss and than Japan's goalie was staring at the sun for the 1st half. You think a world class goalie lets in a shot from midfield? She is no Dan Cloutier.

doesn't matter. playing at bc place at this time period doesn't mean the sun screws you up. many teams been there. goalkeepers can wear sunglasses or hats as far as I know. that didn't affect solo either!

At halftime Solo's goal was in the shadow. It's definitely an exploitable advantage with the sun.. well played by Lloyd.

again, doesn't matter and the sun is insignificant. otherwise fifa would have played all the matches at night time! look at the uefa leagues! japan lost to a better-and-determined-and-revengeful team! remember the last tourney, usa lost to japan in pso!

can't blame the sun on that goal.
it was pure error on the Japanese goalkeeper and same for
the first two goals. poor marking by Japanese defenders
which was highly uncharacteristic of their play.

but congrats to the US team, they were more determined and it showed.
classy act on their part forming a tunnel as the Japanese players
went on to receive their medals. it was a clean game and that's all
a football fan wants.

good job FIFA on a great event. now do the same for the men's game.

Great performance by Carli Lloyd, but what was overlooked by the Fox announcers was the fact that the number 1 US forward, Alex Morgan, on the left, was so heavily guarded that lloyd was able to get free for so many goals.

And, since this is PERB, let's mention that Alex Morgan is a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model.

exactly! can't blame the sun. japan lost every battle! too bad for sawa that can't finish her career with a decent final game!

I think it's jill elis's tactic that the Japanese didn't quite expect it coming.

in bad taste.
why can't people just enjoy sports without
bringing politics into the conversation.
Pearl Harbor and Hiroshima was horrible simply
because lives were lost.

what I witnessed on Sunday was two teams competing
for football supremacy with amazing skills and even better
sportsmanship. sports can rear its ugly head at
times, but on Sunday, it reminded me that there's
hope in humanity if we show some respect to one another.

and why I like NHLs long tradition of shaking hands at the
end of the series. leave the politics out of sports.
