Diablo II and Ultima Underworld are amongst my all-time favourites. Diablo III will be added to the list if Blizzard ever finishes it. It's been 3 years since it was officially announced, but it's been rumoured that the now defunct Blizzard North team actually started working on it 10 years ago.

Battle Chess - where the chess pieces come to life and fight each other, complete with death screams. One move even replicated the Black Knight fight scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

Doom II - I stopped playing videogames because of this, because I became addicted! Before I owned my own computer, I used to go into work on weekends and play this game for hours and hours.

You can run a lot of old games on windows 7 as long as you right click the icon for the game and go into properties then compatibility mode and set it to windows xp and run the game as admin.
Some games though will have slight graphical errors, lots though run perfectly fine.
I don't really consider the whole doom/doom2/quake to be real gaming, they were kind of like kick the can, where as quake 2 (could compare q2 to hockey/football) really ushered in gaming as it is today on the PC.

I found the old DOS version but it doesn't really work on XP.
I also found an old Windows version but the sound doesn't work. A pity because the sounds add to the humor of the game.

Oh man, what about the super classics?!

Rise of the Triad, Commander Keen, Jazzy Jackrabbit, Wolfenstein...

Man, I can't remember them all now, but I do remember spending hours all all these games!

What about good 'ol BBS games like LORD and Usuper?
