i guess this might be a stupid post for me since i don't even own a car.
but im a car guy

when i had cancer twenty years ago finances were tight so i sold it.
when i went back to work i cycled,
still do love my bike

simply love my bike,
when i became mortgage free, well i could have bought well a nice set of wheels. but the dream sort of faded whats the big deal
any way,

so this post is more about cars you owned in the past that you loved, what was the first car you owned or learned to drive on.

i learned on a beetle easy to drive, i will always have a fondness for volkswagons great cars.

i inherited a piece of junk an old mg. couildn't even tell what color it was so rusted out and battered, it truelly was junk
i think i almost pushed it as far as i drove it, no top,
rusted through and through the electrics just crap on it.
it had a funny habit of just dieing in the middle of no where
and finally i would just push it for a few blocks and the dam thing would just start and go. fuck it drove me nuts.

but dam that car was fun to drive. low to the ground cornered shit i was the coolest guy at sixteen i had nothing nothing but that car, and i loved it.

my next car was an old chevy two
three on the tree power nothing in line six, again old and crap.
but i could always limp it in to crappy tire buy points plugs rotor cap, carb kit. whatever and keep it running.

i didnt even lock it
no one could drive it, the linkage in the tranny was all hinky,
you had to shift just right into second or it would jam the tranny,
they would steal it but when they went to shift, they fucked it up,
i would find my car a block away, crawl underneath tiinker with the linkage and away i went.
loved that car,

my fav car would be a 911 never owned one never even sat in one,

but i dreamed of always owning one, planned to but found this hobby,

so many things in life, you realize the pursuit of something the dream, is better then the reality. so im in no hurry.

my sp is my 911 for the moment,

I had an old ford extended cab with a sorta butchers block thing in the back of it. (My Daddy seized it from a butcher) I was only fifteen and he would show me where to park it so I wouldn't get into parking predicaments, being so long of a truck etc and since I only had my learners.
My second truck was a very old (maybe 78), white chevy three on the tree, long box. What a tough truck that thing was but learning how to drive it was challenging cuz the clutch was evil and made my leg hurt so bad and arm strong steering also. But it would not die.
Third truck was a bit newer chevy sierra classic two tone and it was quite great in my eyes but no 4x4 and the winter roads and its black ice took it from me. Ahhh that was a dark night.
I actually learned how to drive in my Daddy's Lincoln towncar on the highway when they would have a drink or two to many and when my Daddy was fully doing the nod I would sit up on my knees and cruise control lol. Very dangerous. And also I learned to drive a stick shift in my best friends Moms chevette in the parking lot of the Mall when we were camping out for Aerosmith tickets. I to this day prefer a stick but the kind of rides I am fond of tend to be auto.
The end

My first car was a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS. Of course it wasn't a classic back then. My parents gave me my mom's old car, because she got a new one. Loved that car and wish I still had it. Unfortunately, some pervert set fire to it and masturbated in the bushes while it burned. I will get another some day.

My first car was a 76 Ford Capri 4-cyl.
It was ugly, but a good car.
Bought it for $600 in 1991.
Used it for 2 years driving from Aldergrove to SFU 4-5 days a week.
Drove it from BC to California, to Toronto, and once to Vegas when I was 17.
Yes they let me gamble, I was 6'7" then, and grew a beard before my trip.
Car never broke down once. Sold it for $600

Currently have a Subaru sportscar, and my summer only car, which is getting her insurance Monday.
My 930 turbo. But would like to get a new 911 too. With the strong dollar, its the cheapest time ever to pick them up.

silly me
i forgot
the first car i spent some money
was a tr6 white

again british electronics it was a bitch, especially in calgary winters, silly actually for calgary in the winter, didn't have a block heater, i ran for the bus more then i drove in the winter,
but summer it was sweet,

low fast, the fastest thing i ever drove actually
and it would corner,
loved to hear the tires squeal as i ripped through corners.

the last fun car i had actually,
vans trucks honda civic
cars point a to point b,
but i enjoyed my bike more.

an sp i know is into cars, street racing
i was going to mention her set of wheels
but its pretty high end. and she has several actually

but i will respect her priviacy
and some guys get jealous or bent out of shape if some sp working decades makes her self some decent coin this,

fucking stupid actually good for you girls if you end up rich.

but any way,
her and me would fight,
she would bitch to me about her stupid car, brakes gone clutch gone, cost a fortune to repair and doesn't las
and i just laugh and tell her,

you should have bought a porsche 911 and we would argue which is better,
her wheels or a porsche.

but holy shit she was a fast women. not just in cars

This is easy.

The 1967 Ford Shelby GT500
I second this :) particularly the GT500-KR.

Also a BMW e34 M5 or at least a 535i

I had a Mazda RX3 back in 1974 it stayed in the family for 18 yrs . it only had 60,000 but the the rotary engine was acting up some one bought it and put a piston engine in it and fixed it up nice .

But the car i wanted the minute i saw the prototype in the car mags was the Mazda RX7 .. It came out in the middle of 1978 and i was the first to buy on in Victoria. It was white and i had 2 red stripes put down the center..... It was the fist car that showed me what nice car show drive like . It was$9500 I drove it on the week ends , but some years it was uninsured in the carport.. then in 1985 I sold it for $7500 I wanted the money for other things that were more important ... It was one of the simpler sports cars .. and today it probably does not stack up.. but it was easy the work on. and the rotary had power.
