Pasta House - Anton's in Burnaby
Genuine Italian - Golden Boot in Coquitlam off Nelson...
Japanese - Koko's on Hastings (try their red-red-red, wild salmon sahimi, and their jumbo dynamite roll, extra spicy)
Burgers - Lumiere hands down! ($34 Special)
Convenient Chinese Greasy Spoon Cafeteria Style - Hon's
Chinese (HK Style) - No. 9 on No.3 Road, Richmond
Chinese dimsum/dinner - Kirin, Henderson Place, Coquitlam
Seafood - Cannery
Greek - Alekos
Thai - There are no, "I repeat" no good Thai Restaurants in Vancouver; go to Seattle or Bangkok. Most of the cooks here are lousy imports, here on a "six-month non-working" student visa (hahaha)
Indian - Tandoori King on Fraser Street
Western (upscale) - The Diva at The Met

Best Dim Sum

The best dim dum I've had in Vancouver is at Floata in Chinatown - Keefer near Main. By comparison, Pink Pearl and Flamingo are "crap". Floata is amazingly cheap, too. Only $30 for lunch for three hungry adults. There's lots of parking, and they also validate!

PS: I'm not a shill for them.

PPS: I'm told there's even better dim sum out in Richmond, but it's much pricier.

Floata is good, and I concur with your assessment of Pink Pearl & Flamingo. In fact, one of the best gauge of a Chinese Restaurant's quality is the smell of its restrooms.

Floata

Floata seems to have three or so locations, but hasn't dropped off the quality. I've returned a lot. I like the steamed "Pearl wrapped rice with chicken", that comes in mini size wrapped in leaves, but not seaweed leaves (like sushi).

dude, that place blows, i've been there so many times and the service/food was horrible.

I guess that's why they're busy every hour of the 24 hours a day it's open. For a HK style chinese restaurant, where else would you suggest?

Nothing personal but if your favorite place is Boston Pizza, then it's obvious you don't get out much. =)

Also for dim sum try Shiang Garden in Richmond. It's busy but it's dim sum that is a level above the tradional dim sum you'll find.

Sun Siu Wah on Main & 23rd and their Richmond location has really good Dim Sum for lunch.
Dinner is average.

Kirin is good for Dim Sum and dinner but is more expensive.
Both restaurant has very good service and clean washrooms.

Why do all the bathrooms in Chinese Wonton Houses suck? I just can't understand that.
