So, I went and saw this locally made movie. I thought it was okay for a summer type movie. Not much thinking involved here.
Yes. Jessica Alba looks hot. But not the best actress though.
You can spot Vancouver though, the Marine building stands out.

The theatre was not full. I went to the new Paramount theatre on Burrard.
very fancy, great seats. Damn popcorn is expensive!!!

Any thoughts on the new theatre?

The seats are good at The Paramount. Seats have more legroom.
No comparison to the old Capitol 6.

They must be almost out of Stan Lee characters to make fliks of.
One thing of note about the Fantastic Four flik, and likely of collossal importance to PERBs, is the sexual content of the flik:

Susan may be able to turn invisible, but her clothes can't, which entails her having to strip to use her superpower. (That's in addition to her fondness for very low-cut outfits throughout the story.) Once we see the form of her "naked" body with only a filled-out lacy bra and panties. (She momentarily loses control of the superpower and reappears dressed in nothing but those underthings.) Another time she starts to strip off her jacket and blouse before the camera cuts away. Reed accidentally walks in on her as she towels off after a shower, and we briefly see her bare back before she turns invisible and covers up with the towel. It's suggested that she and Reed lived together before breaking up.

Johnny is a playboy extraordinaire. He's said to have taken several "Victoria's Secret wannabes" on a flight simulator, and he's always coming on to women. (When a nurse notes that he's hot—literally about to burst into his superpower flames—he responds, "Why, thank you. So are you.") On two occasions he's seen mostly nude after his clothes burn off, with only a strategically placed snow bank or coat hiding his private parts. After "flaming on" while skiing, he invites a young lady into the accidental "hot tub" he's created in the snow. (He's shirtless and presumably naked.)

A lusty woman suggestively speaks of how Mr. Fantastic can "expand any part of his anatomy." Johnny jokes, "Oh, I always found him a bit limp."

Ben's wife wears a skimpy negligee. Several cheerleaders wear revealing uniforms that show a lot of cleavage.

Thought it was a perfectly enjoyable flick...it's not The Shawshank Redemption or nothing...but enjoyable. Certainly didn't deserve the beating the critics have been giving it...

Fantastic Four

I'd have to agree, I enjoyed Fantastic Four. I don't go to summer movies for substance. I go for explosions and....umm stuff. Yeah that's it. I love Jessica Alba, but I had to giggle during her scenes as a scientist, she looked as though she was concentrating REAAALY hard.

As for the new Paramount downtown. I HATE IT. I thought the Silvercity theaters were abortions when they opened, but Paramount outdoes them all.
I miss the Capitol 6 as well :( Ill be checking out my movies at the Granville 7 while i still can. I remember seeing The Monster Squad there when I was a kid.

I saw the movie opening night. I've been collecting comics since pre-pubescence and I have certain standards that I expect when seeing a movie.

I liked the movie. They made subtle references that only fans would notice. Stan Lee as Willy Lumpkin was pretty good. Willy's always delivering mail to the Baxter Building, you'd expect that was his entire route.

I did expect the Thing to be larger. He's suppose to be about 7 feet but the suit was incredible. There was a scene when he was pulling the fire truck back onto the bridge and you see his shoulder blades move. The suit was not just a solid piece of latex, they put a lot to make it look real.

Dr. Doom they kind of went side-ways on but I can deal with that.

I have to say though, movies are a lot better now than when Tim Burton's Batman came out. And they way they messed with the X-men really chapped my hide.

So is the Fantastic Four true to the comic, no but the spirit is there for a first movie. If there is a next one, I'm hoping they build upon what they did here.

Batman Begins...

My favourite summer flik...ooooh yes. Just his twisted dark mind made him so freakn dead sexy...can't wait to see it the 3rd time.

Made me completely forget about all the previous comedic attempts of what Batman should've been like.

I walked out about sixty minutes in, what a goofy costume party for nine year olds I couldn't take it anymore. It didn't even aspire to the levels that Batman Begins and Sin City hit but I could see enjoying it if I was taking a young child to the movies.
