What about FLUSHING raw sewage directly in to ocean by the Municipal Government?Victoria on the island does it on a consistent basis....PIPES raw sewage into the OCEAN.Yet the people that "care" about the "environment" and those "precious" killer whales say and do nothing. They do get loud and angry about the "twinning" of an EXISTING pipeline though....which is a combination of NIMBYISM mixed with professional protesters who are PAID by special interest groups.Happens almost ever year. The indicator organism E. Coli doesn't portray the whole spectrum of what could be lurking out there. Salmonella, Cryptosporida and Camplobacter all have various nastiness associated with them. Not to mention schiztomiasis and the amoeba Giardia are enough to keep me out of the water.
Why does this happen? Well, warm weather, no fresh water runoff from rainstorms and the plethora of pleasure craft that flush their sewage directly into the marine environment. Too bad politicians could never get it together to ban direct discharge and make holding tanks mandatory.
I agree it's beautiful but the reality is the false Creek area is a dead end. It just never gets flushed properly.https://vancouversun.com/news/local...ng-water-in-vancouvers-false-creek-falls-flat

Yup. Just take a look at a map, or aerial view of False Creek. It's a wonder any water gets flushed. Too many choke points, too much building, too many boats, and almost no tidal flow.I agree it's beautiful but the reality is the false Creek area is a dead end. It just never gets flushed properly.
Try Deep Cove in N Van. There is a kayak rental place on the waterfront and the views up Indian Arm are beautiful. The water is crystal clear in Indian Arm.Good to know, everytime I visit I tell myself maybe next time I go kayaking or boating on there. Maybe a good thing I never get the chance!
100% agree, Deep Cove is a (not so hidden) gem, stunning views (and donuts) come with crowds...Try Deep Cove in N Van. There is a kayak rental place on the waterfront and the views up Indian Arm are beautiful. The water is crystal clear in Indian Arm.
