Lake Mead was created after the Hoover dam was built in the 1930s. It had become a popular boat recreation site during the 50s. Its water level is dropping. It only about 40% full now. This supplies water for las Vegas and agriculture in Nevada and and in California and Arizona.
Solutions:
Megaprojects consisting of desalination plants on west coast to make fresh water to supplement agriculture in California, and to resupply Lake Mead by pipeline.
Cover lake mead in black balls, which prevent evaporation of the lake water.
For the pipeline use solar power pumping stations to pump the water from reservoir to reservoir, until it reaches Lake Meade.

Now when you mention pipelines and desalination plants, business peoples eyes light up with the word "profit". Got nothing to do with profit, its about protecting the people and suppling them with water that will help their lives.

Except desalination plants create their own environmental problems.

Or, and this is a crazy thought, people could stop trying to grow food in a desert.

Yes there is agriculture, but the big increase in water use is household use thru increase in population in the states the Colorado River runs through...

Scientist for the past 20 years have known that Lake Mead was going to drop, alot due to public usuage. But nothing was done.

I live beside a lake in the interior.

For sure the lake is rising, year after year after year.


Maybe instead of the mad rush to move to places with limited water supply, like California, Nevada etc. Those masses should move to places where water is plentiful.

Seems in BC we are getting more and more flooding, and really bad floods.
If some US cities run out of water, so be it, they did it to themselves.
