not to sound flippant on such a tragic day, but what are they going to target in Canada? They blow up Toronto and they will get a Governor General's medal ... blow up Montreal and they would get two ... blow up Vancouver and the citizens will just complain that they didn't get invited to the party!

Canada is, unfortunately, a terrorist-friendly place: we didn't support the war in Iraq, our policy support of the US is like a flea riding a camel, and our entire GDP wouldn't cover the US military budget and we have a relatively open-door policy toward criminal immigrants ...

We have the Tamil Tigers, the Somali war lords, the Asian Tongs, the Russian Mafia and all of them doing very well here indeed, thank you.

All that's going to happen here is that more and more Americans and Europeans who are living in terror will move here looking for sanctuary ... and its going to get more and more difficult to do any trade or travel in the US.

and either Bush changes his policy (mom still changes his undies so that's not gonna happen) or the US takes a page from the Mossad or the Germans and just starts hunting down terrorists ...

And i was very upset by this news from London and am sorry for any losses in such a stupid and senseless manner.

Not if you are a subscribing member of the Islamic nation:

My condolences to the people of Britain, our greatest ally and closest kin, and closest friend.

We have to take the fight to the terrorists... um, ah, ahem... in Britain! And there's WMD in Britain ... I'm sure the CIA is right on this one!

Raise the Threat Level to Neon Red! Turn the dials to "11"!

Hosers cancel your Skytrain passes!

What is there to target in Canada? Why would they target Canada?
Our system is very friendly to illegal immigrants, drug dealers and what not so if they are to be chrged with a war crime all they have to do is come to Canada and they'll get their day in court at our expense. Like that young American military desserter or those two street racers in Vancouver that are still here despite being found guilty and ordered deported but they are still trying to stay on humanitarian and compassionalte grounds?

The war on terror is global. There is no region of the world that is safe from terrorists. Spain withdrew their troops from Iraq, they were still attacked. Britain was hosting a world summit on global warming and poverty, they were attacked. In spite of the announcements that the G summit will continue, it has been disrupted and the leader’s attention will be somewhere else. The focus will not be on Africa for the next few months.

Canada may think it is safe because the Canadian government has terrorist friendly policies, but that is the attitude the Saudis had and they were attacked. The people of Iraq are being killed daily, what did they do to the terrorists?

You can sit back and think you are safe, but you are not safe you are just not a prime target. Would you care to speculate how long you would be safe if the US caved in? The US is capable of protecting ourselves put it would mean pulling our troops home. Fully guarding the borders. Stopping immigration. Cutting off trade and foreign aid. Basically acting like we are accused of on a daily basis. Being self centered and looking out for our best interests. The isolationist’s policies of pre-WWII could be dusted off.

The isolationist policies would make us safe in the short run because the terrorists would focus on secondary targets like Canada and other nations that trade with the US.

I know that Bush will provide Tony Blair with what ever support he needs. The attack today will result in a major offensive in another region. My guess is Iran or Syria. They will be looking for ties between those who attacked London today and when those ties are made you will see a response from Britain and the US that will equal the 9/11 response.

Speaking as a Brit currently in Canada, I have to say that unfortunately, this was inevitable. We knew it was coming, pretty much ever since 9/11 and Tony Blair decided to stand "shoulder to shoulder" with Bush and the US. The only thing I would say is, it could've been even worse. The attacks happened between around 9am and 9:45am, had they taken place an hour to hour and a half earlier, I dread to think how bad the figures would be...

I think the terrists [sic] came from Texas, and that state should be invaded in the interests of freedom, democracy, and world peace.

I think OBL is not in a position to plan this. He is likely under a rock somewhere.

The British will need to do their own investigation and they will come to a conclusion.

If I had to guess I think you may be right, that the culprits will be traced back to Iran or Syria. If they are, the Brits will decide what the next steps are, but the USA will stand shoulder to shoulder with them and support what ever action they think is appropriate.

In the mean time you can stand and ring your hands continuing to proclaim "can't we all just get along"?

I'm surprised it took so long. I wonder if they would have been attacked if the public would have voted Blair out and his replacement pulled back the troops from Iraq? The point that "this is the new normal" is dead on.

If the U.S. and Britain wouldn't have wasted so much time and resources in Iraq, who was no imminent threat to either and was invaded under false pretences, (yes, the fucker DID have to go sometime) they would be in a much better position to find the real culprits of both this and the 9/11 attack. It'll be real interesting to see how both countries respond, who they'll attack, who they're going to send to do it, and how much it will cost. I also don't think the average citizen really understands how long a battle this will be and how much it will cost monetarily and people-wise. Start preparing the grandchildern because that's exactly what these fucks do.

They also need to start dealing with the clerics, they're the ones with the real power over there.

What a fucking mess...

i was wondering when this thread would blame george and iraq. it was to be expected from a cadre of small minded people. You will find out in the next few weeks that this was a home grown conspiracy. Not syria and not iran.

also it shows you how plitically astute these people are the majority of the brits were against the war, they had announced that they were going to pull out of iraq next year. so they go and bomb the brits blair becomes stronger p
politically, plus he extends the stay of the british army in iraq.

eljudo iran would never use the a bomb all of the leaders have gotten use to the millions that they have stolen from the iranian people and they know they would become a parking lot. and remember this is the army that fought saddam to a draw, the same iraqi army that it took the u.s. what 3 weeks to defeat.

the muslims of this world must get their clerics and mullahs to agree on or interpet the koran (holy book). if it is open to any interpetation and they really believe us infidels must all die then it is time for concentration camps or mass expulsion of all muslims. i say bullshit to freedom of religion if a religion attacks my way of life. when they get it sorted out and agree that we in the western world can have other beliefs then maybe let a few come back as visitors. as long as they have not taken flight training.

The question is how are they attacking your way of life?
in order to truly have peace in this world we have to learn to respect each other.

Osama doesnt hate your freedom or your way of life. He simply wants the US out of Saudi Arabia and out of the muslim world. Why is this so hard to comprehed to the western mind? he also considers Israel to be an enemy.. and that doesnt go to well with uncle sam. Israel is the only gooood buddy of the US in the middle east. Not only that , but its the only OFFICIAL state with WMDs... the US of course, looks the other way.

wanna know the reasons...

Oil, money and power. Put it simply, the west couldnt care less if " freedom " ever takes a foothold in the middle east. All it cares about is its management of puppet governments around the globe.

You control the oil, you control main lifeline of economies around the world. In fact, I have heard and read that china economy and military potential is being slowed down by its huge demand on oil. It cannot get enough to sastify its ever expanding industrial might.

If you could move the map of the world and move israel and all of the middle east ( without the dino juice ) over to africa.. the whole continent would be a nuclear waste by know..

LK, I do not agree with your general premise, that our goal is to find the real culprits and I assume punish them in a court of law. Who ever committed the actual act of setting off the bombs is not who we need to find. There is a large global network that is plotting to attack western civilization. The USA and Britain are at war against the masterminds. The countries of the world are now in 3 camps; those who are resolved to hunt down the masterminds and kill them; those countries that want to tacitly appease the masterminds and hope they will not be targeted; those that actively support these masterminds and provide them with cover.

Everyone knows which countries are in which camp, so let the games continue.

Those countries that are actively supporting the terrorists will come into the gun sights of the US military and other countries that wants to confront these terrorist organizations head on. So I think just the opposite to you, the fact that Iraq was invaded removes them as a likely source for the terrorists to mount a coordinated attack. The Iraq wing of the terrorist group is down to blowing up Iraqis women and children. What a despicable low life bunch, but no longer dangerous.

However Iran and Syria are different. It is possible that terrorist in those counties could have planned this attack on Britain because of the cover they receive from the leaders of those countries. If Britain comes to that conclusion, what do you think their reaction will be?

Dittman, you may be right. Maybe this whole plot was developed right under the noses of the British. It happened to us on 9/11, so it could have happened there. But even if this is true

Dittman. Are you already blaming Iran and Syria for the incidents? Do you think syria or Iran wants to become a " parking lot " as you described in the next paragraph? Do you think people in power in both countries, knowing full well what happened to saddam, wants to be related to this so called terrorists?

( it can go both ways. The US was attacked when president was still a noobie and barely won the presidency with hardly any voter confidence ) then out of the blue, the president gets the american people all riled up and back him up to a " war on terror " Dont forget the so called Anthrax scare..

You said it yourself.. maybe the british will have an American type of resolve and keep fighting it out alongside the US in iraq...

Saddam was strip search prior to the war. Why? just in case the bastard had some serious Wmds as they claimed he had. just in case. You dont wanna be gassed to hell when invading the enemy.
