Simulations are garbage in, garbage out. Setting arbitrary numbers (60% is herd immunity! but 59% is not) is an easy way to fool people. The more variables there are, the more room for uncertainty. The article headline makes me cringe. Experts... yeah certainly experts at something, but definitely not experts at the subject of discussion. If it were that easy, the entire world would have dealt with COVID already if there was as much certainty in simulations and mathematical models as the article suggested.

The good news is that vaccinations have been speeding up in April.

Also the USA has 60 million AZ doses to give away.

Maybe 100's of millions in a few months.
