Parked at one of their lots yesterday, paid by cc and machine was out of paper so it couldn't issue the required receipt. Last time that happened i put a note in the windshield but ended up with one of their exorbitantly high violation tickets that took me over a week to fight (and a few grey hairs) due to their limited automated phone system, automatic disconnect at corporate office, out of order online complaints, non-responsive emails & endless wait times to speak to a customer rep.

This time i tried calling a half dozen different numbers over an hour to no avail. So irritating! I try to ascribe incompetence over malice but in impark's case i seriously think their unwieldy complaints system is a slow torture revenue strategy to annoy the hell out of the customer without ever having to deal with them and make them give up. This time i'm out $8 (parked elsewhere rather than risking another ticket), hardly worth the effort but makes you wonder how much money they make this way.

Grrr.

Ah, i feel better, thanks for letting me share. :)

Impark is the worst of all the parking companies. I usually avoid using their lots whenever I can.

I agree they suck.
They own my work parking lot.
Its not that bad a price for the month.
However, they only take credit card.
My mastercard expired, and I forgot to call them up to let them know.
I guess cause I have been parking there 4 years, and really don't think about it.
However, they fine you if your mastercard expires, they need 21 days advanced notice as well. The fine was equal to 2 months parking fees or almost $170. All this from being 10 days late paying them. Plus 20% interest on the 10 days I was late.

Apparently I was lucky, I have a coworker who was towed.
Simply because her credit card expired.
Even though she had been a customer of that lot several years.

Total bastards, I avoid them when ever I can, I would rather go plug the meter 5 times than give them a dime if I can.

They are terrible! Bastards! They make it impossible to complain and then send out fake collection letters. They can't do a thing unless they catch you again in their lot. Just never pay and park elsewhere.

Call your CC company and ask them to suspend payment as you did not receive what you paid for. I guarantee you that Impark will not ignore your CC company.

She'll have to wait on phone an hour with her CC company instead.
To get the $8 back.

Phone charges: $3.50
Lost time for hour on phone with CC: $350

Sticking it to IMPARK bloodsuckers*: PRICELESS!

I got a parking ticket last night in a diamond parking lot(free parking as long as your a patron) I went into a restaurant to pick up my take out which is on the same lot. I was literally in there for 4 minutes and got a parking ticket with the reason of "walked off the lot". Luckily I have my receipt to dispute it.

Between the legs of a HOT SP!!
I went to see a SP recently in a city I am not familiar with the parking and could not find a parking space so I used an Impark parking lot. I saw that it had a machine to give tickets to put in your windshield, so I grabbed some loonies and toonies, went to the machine and saw it did not take cash. Went and got my debit card and back to the machine, found out it was CC only, DAMN!!

Was late for my session, so I did not pay at all, but left my car in their lot which was just across the street from the now late incall. I did the session, went time over and went out to my car to see what the damage would be or if it would be towed. Car was still there, no ticket or note or anything. Does that mean I got away with not paying for parking there? I hear that they are pretty notorious.

Good advice. This topic has been discussed several times already.

These parking companies make MOST of their money off parking infractions, so they don't send the tickets to collections...THEY ARE collections. Seventy percent of their business is in parking fines. Their lot attendants make a small commission off every parking ticket they write, plus their hourly wage which is a little bit above minimum wage, so when they see you leaving the lot they're on you like white on rice. The collectors know how much people guard their credit rating like they guard their scrotum. Having said that, they will NOT place a red flag on your credit file because they don't have access to it. They only have access to your home address and phone number courtesy of ICBC. They will pursue it very aggressively at first and threaten to take your car away and ruin your credit rating, put you in jail, kick your dog, poison your cat, beat up your wife, kidnap your first born, whatever it takes to instill fear in you. But if you want to instill fear in them, tell them they'll hear from your lawyer and that you'll see them in court. That might be the last time you hear from them.

If you want to make sure they don't impound your car next time you're in violation in one of their lots (they can't impound your car if you're not in violation), simply change your license plates. It costs $18 to do this, a lot less then the $50 for the ticket.

Remember these guys know how to play the game, so be one step ahead of them.
