Ethnicity?

I have seen a number of ads where ladies ask for you to provide your ethnicity. Not sure what they mean by that. My sense is they might mean race but perhaps someone knows more precisely. For what its worth, race and ethnicity are different.

"Today, race refers to a group sharing some outward physical characteristics and some commonalities of culture and history. Ethnicity refers to markers acquired from the group with which one shares cultural, traditional, and familial bonds."

In most cases they are wanting race.
Asking for Ethnicity is, I believe, an attempt to not trigger anyones sensitivities.

this has been discussed in previous threads.
many times it's to avoid possibly meeting somone the girl knows.
other times it can be because of bad experiences eg rough treatment,lack of hygiene,etc. of a particular group.

Well, there's ethnicity like saying "Hispanic" or European without specifying nationality. It's important to be specific though, might want to say Afro-Hispanic instead of saying you're Cuban for example. Cause Cuban can be anything and being specific helps the provider identify you more accurately at the door rather than opening the door for the wrong guy.

Lot of us have stalkers who are of some certain race , it is just another way we protect ourselves , not all cultures are female friendly & some ladies avoid certain races like or not because of very bad experiences. Right or wrong it’s how it is .
