Yes, lots of ESL students around town, many living in homes in my area and I'm sure they have the $$ to support themselves while in school here.

Wealthy parents, who like the status of having their child "learning English" in a foreign country, and the kids get status on return. I've been involved in helping the families get this done.
The girls don't need the money, but are prone to "romantic encounters", again for status, this time among their friends.
There is a "Meet n Greet" place, near Burrard and Georgia, where you can offer practical English lessons...
The girls will expect you to be closer to their age, though, and can be Hot House Flowers...

I think most are here to avoid the high schools and colleges of Asia which studying 10 hrs a day is a regular day. Have you seen how hard it is to get into college in China and South Korea?

I had to look it up:

A hothouse flower is flower that isn't hardy enough to grow under natural conditions. It has to be pampered and grown in a greenhouse or hothouse.
In regard to people it's used to describe someone who needs pampering or special conditions.
It doesn't exclusively mean high maintenance, but, needing special circumstances on some level to flourish, grow, be happy, or stable.

Plants grown in greenhouses are sturdy in their own environment, because they are perfectly suited to it. You only need a greenhouse when you grow them outside of their environment. The same thing applies when you grow alpine plants in a tropical environment. Then you use a coolhouse to grow them.

OT I know, but the idea that stuff grown in greenhouses are somehow delicate is flat out wrong.
