DUST MITE FACTS

* You spend approximately one third of your life in bed, more time than anywhere else in the home, but incredibly, it is the place you clean the least – if at all!

* Six squeamish facts about dust mites:

* The average bed contains millions of dust mites, which thrive on the humid conditions and feast off the particles of dead skin that we shed every day (we shed around two to three pounds of skin every year).
* The weight of the average mattress doubles after ten years due to dust mite infestation
* Ten percent of the weight of a two year old pillow can be composed of dead mites and their droppings
* During its 80 day lifespan, the average dust mite produces about 1,000 allergenic waste particles. These contain a powerful allergen that can cause irritation and a particular trigger for allergy sufferers.
* A dust mite is smaller than a grain of sand
* Dust mite populations increase rapidly; each egg-laying female can increase the population by 25 or 30 new mites per week.

There are bedding types that they don't tend to inhabit. For those with severe allergies regarding them, you might even need a matress that is covered in a hypoallerginic plastic cover.

I've got a good bed, but unfortunately, my pillows aren't the greatest and I'm sure that they are partying it up in there :(

That won't make a difference. Dust mites thrive on your couch, as well, because you shed skin flakes there. I read somewhere years ago that dust mites feast on semen stains left on sheets.

As I've said, "Can't fight the mite" is my personal slogan. And once again, here is my favourite picture:

lmao, nasty shit, thanks for sharing.

Actually i try to wash the bedsheets every 30 days.

I even vacuum the room once in one or two years.

But you are right about 8 hours a day in bed. Though if i had a woman
i'd want to double that.
