Not nearly enough in my book.

Case in point. Look at the Rome hit in the Boston series and then look at the Keith hit the other night.

Who got off easy and who paid a huge price?

BTW the officials in that game were called out by A V in a press conference too. Might get interesting.

I am pretty sure they switched and called him in for a personal hearing.

Meaningless suspension....Chicago will likely remain 6th, Canucks will remain second.
This suspension actually hurts the Canucks.....as they can't really drop worse than second.
They do have an outside shot at first........I am sure the Canucks would rather Keith get to play against St Louis next week.

Say end of the season Canucks tie St Louis in points.....lose the tiebreaker for wins in regulation or OT.
With the Blues beating the Hawks 5-4 next week......then we meet St louis in the conference final and lose game 7 in their building.....

5 seem sufficient, and makes for great hockey if these two teams meet in the playoffs.
wishing Daniel a speedy recovery.

AV should seriously consider biting his tongue when it comes to criticizing the referees, constantly doing it is not going to get you any favorable calls in the playoffs or worse.

As for the suspension, 5 games is reasonable considering Keith is a star player who is a "first-time" offender.

if i were a canuck fan i'd be happy. Maybe this is what daniella needs to wake up and start playing like a man. Instead of taking punches and shots to the head his entire career and "making them pay on the power play." His bro should follow suit. Love how nobody on the team did a whole lot of anything about the cheap shot too. Although burrows did try to pull keiths hair! lol

These suspensions don't accomplish anything, obviously because incidents keep happening with regularity.

I'm an advocate of the suspended player sitting out for the same time as the injured player remains out, plus one game. As well, the team plays for the duration of the suspension down one player on the roster.

THAT would clean up a lot of the cheap hits.

I think having the guy suspending till his victim returns leaves too much room for sneaky gms and coaches to abuse that.

I do like losing a roster spot.....Chicago only being allowed to dress 5 dmen, for these 5 games.
That would also make it more effective when its a 4th liner being suspended....right now teams don't really care as a forth liner can be replaced easy enough.....

What if the injured player retries, get send down to the minors, or injures himself during rehab? In theory - a good idea, in reality - not so much. Look at how well the death penalty has stopped all the killings, oh wait...

Yeah the game will be so clean, you might as well be watching figure skating.;)

i'm with you on that one... :thumb:

if the guy with the concussion never gets over it and can't return to professional play, it's 'tough shit buddy, your career's over too' for the hitter

using my rules, the closest bertuzzi would get to a hockey stick right now would be pushin' the floor polisher at canadian tire

Don't see an issue - If a player is so injured he has to retire, the suspended player sits for a year, or whatever.

If the injured player gets sent down to the minors, he's back playing, so the suspension would end.

If the injured player sustains an injury during rehab, so what? The suspension is still in effect until the injured player returns to play.

You think head shots and intent to injure cheap shots are entertaining?

The NHL is a goon league. The best, most entertaining hockey I have seen (purely my opinion) was the 2010 Olympics. Skill, skating, hard work, great passing and legal hits made the games entertaining, fast and really enjoyable.

Any league that tolerates these stupid scrums, cheap shots (from all sides) and changes rules mid-season is completely incompetent. Why do the game rules change from regular season to playoffs? It's bizarre!

It will be interesting to see how Canucks will react to Duncan Keith if they play against Chicago during playoff.

I agree! NFL dosent tolerate any nonsense and stands firm behind their rules and the Saints can now attest to that.No wonder ESPN dosent take hockey seriously down south.
