Recently I saw driver do something really stupid. The road used to have a left turn lane. The left turn lane was eliminated (to improve traffic flow) and an island was set up to show new traffic flow (still not allowing an left turn from main road) on the perpendicular roadway. The way now, is to go to next light (use left turn lane there) and turn left at the next turn to get to the big box store.
So with no left turn lane, I seen a car turn left into the right yield/turning lane of the perpendicular road. I have also seen drivers do a 110 left hand turn around the island (when there is no left turn). In all its to bypass the next light which turns onto a major road.
I guess drivers like this short cut, but it is dangerous driving.
have to wonder about the intelligence of the person driving.....
