After a year out of the business and away from PERB, I'm just posting to offer my driving services to whomever may need them.

I am located right behind Lougheed Mall in East Burnaby and I'm available Monday to Friday from 7pm-3am/anytime on weekends. I am extremely reliable, very respectful, and punctual. I am also drug-free and professional, and would expect the same from anyone who I am able to help out.

I have driven for a few agencies & independants in the past, as well as a couple of PERB-ettes including Ingrid. Feel free to contact her if you have any questions about my attitudes or abilities. I have also helped with tasks other than driving, including house-sitting and pet-sitting.

Although I have a basic rate structure available, I am very flexible and willing to work with anyone based on their business needs, location, hours, etc.

Hopefully I've covered everything here. If I've missed something or if you are interested, please contact me via PM and I will promptly reply.

Thanks in advance,
THT

I have driven some chicks around and my findings are............

Chicks do not have the concept of speeding tickets, no I am not doing 90 down Kingsway and 140 on the freeway straight to Langley.

The radio is not a toy, it's more of a set it and forget it item. If you need to constantly fiddle with something thats what my pee-pee is for.

One chick can make the car as filthy in one night as I could in 6 weeks.

HiTrack: I definitely know what you mean with the drawbacks you point out. Generally, I find things like that happening more with the agency girls than the independant ones. There are many respectful, business-minded escorts out there who plan accordingly and respect their drivers as well as their clients, but I'm sure you know this.

Maury: The costs of owning a car are certainly expensive these days, but luckily my car is better than decent on fuel and during my time off this last year, I was able to get some much-needed maintainence done. Unfortunately, unless you have a deal worked out with a certain cab driver, cabs can get pretty outrageous once you leave the immediate area you work/live in.

1. For some reason, 94.5 FM seems to be the station of choice for SP's.

2. Yeah I noticed that too... cig. ashes, crack paraphelia, spilled fluids, french fries, etc.

3. Add that 1 chick has absolutely no concept of the price of fuel, and offered me a whole $30 to bring her to Abbotsford and back! I would have laughed so hard if I didn't politely say "no thanks" and hang up on her. She then had the nerve to call me back 30 min. later and "up her offer" to an incredible $40... woohoo. Let's see... after $25 in fuel, $5 in misc costs, I get to make about $10 for about 3 hours of total time... yipee!

That's why I'm no longer a driver. Bottom line is most of the SP's are cheap.... and they think we're cheap! One of them even thought I should throw in a free McDonalds meal with the deal.

Driving was fun for the experience... but the "thrill" was lost really quick. I enjoyed the high speed chases, and I won't rule out doing it again in the future for a respectful SP who offers a realistic fee (yes, they actually do exist, but are more the exception than the rule), but I've generally got better things to do with my time. This is not something I would call "a possible career." It's just something to do for fun and meet some interesting people and hear some interesting stories... and of course, outrun a few cops now and then ;).

Yeah Maverick, you pretty much summed up what it's all about in this last paragraph, although I never got into driving for the thrill as much as for the potential money available. There are many respectful providers out there but as a driver, as with anything else in life, you must have at least some standards and rules in order to pick out the good from the bad. One can easily spot drivers & providers who are in it for the wrong reasons, and one should adjust accordingly.

Having experience and some contacts in the business really comes in handy sometimes, for instance if your income has been jeopardized. You're accurate in that it is something to do for fun and definitely not a career, but if you play everything right you meet some great people who you may choose to keep in your life when you get out of the business. I've been extremely fortunate so far - none of the journeys I've been on have turned out violent and I've have never had any problems with the police (knock on wood!).

Putting some numbers together, I can see where it would work, optimally anyway, if I lived in West End, and drove within a 30km radius. My car cost me $35K, including taxes. Amortizing it over five years, and assuming selling it at the end of that period for $15K, would then cost $20K, or $4K/yr. Insurance at about $2K/yr, gas $200/mth, maintenance $100/mth, brings the annual cost to $9.6K or $800/mth or $200/wk. That works out to $30/day, give or take. So a couple trips per day, at $30 a pop each way would certainly help defray the cost of ownership. A lesser expensive car would then make it even more lucrative.

WTF?
I think Tapper's talkin' about drivin' SPs, not bank robbers.
I was partially kidding. Notice the wink wink like this ;)

I was never involved in any high speed chases with cops while driving an SP(that's just stupid!), but was instructed to "boot it" a few times because the SP in question had some people chasing her! That is both exciting and pathetic at the same time.

One SP was so f$cked up on drugs and I later found out she had a warrant on her... and apparently many of the cops recognized her face (or so she thought)... one time a cop pulled into where we were, and she was like "go go go go go!!!!".... I would be driving 50 km/h on Granville and she would be like "slow down slow down we don't want any cop attention" and I'm like "lady, I'm driving the speed limit. If we go slower, we'll probably attract more attention than maintaining speed." I enjoyed the thrill, and then when I got home, I laughed about it.

Driving for SP's can definitely produce some adventures... if you're into that, go for it.

I've also driven a few normal SP's and been paid a fair fee as well... but the level of adventure is usually inversely proportional to the normalness of the SP

Maury, I can see how the scenario you've described might one day be profitable, but you've quoted estimations based on your own costs. With never-ending depreciation on your 'newer' vehicle, as well as substantlally higher gas/maintainence/insurance costs than my own, it doesn't reflect my profitability accurately.

Mike's assessment is more along the lines of my situation. I've owned my car outright for eight years, and I purchased it for a little less than $10K, so I don't have to put any payments towards that. It's a fairly low-maintainence vehicle and it's great on gas, Additionally, with my Roadstar discount, insurance is less than $1K per year. I'm also extremely fortunate to have a part-time day job which pays a very high hourly wage. In the end, I'm left with large pockets of time to kill, and an excellent car to kill it with. :)

Being a driver, success & profitability are definitely situation-dependant.

I agree and good on you Tapper. I was looking at it from my own perspective, as an analytical possibility. I've done a little of this before downtown, but it didn't work out as I expected. Was left cold without notice on one occasion for whatever reason... I still do a few exclusives, but the ladies are very generous and I know them personally, so there are no surprises. Good Luck!

Thanks Maury. It always helpful to hear opinions and suggestions from other drivers, regardless of their length or quality of experience. It's good that you still keep in touch with a few ladies that can depend on you and vice versa. You never know when it comes in handy, life's full of surprises!

Many Thanks

I just wanted to say thanks to all who have shown interest so far. There have been a decent number of inquiries and personally, with the situation I've been in, it's very encouraging and has definitely raised my spirits.

Thanks again, and my offer will stay open to anyone who needs until I post otherwise.

Other benefits, too

I also drove for one of the less reputable agencies for a while.

Driving does put some cash in your pocket, but after paying for gas, and wear and tear, especially on longer trips, one's hourly pay rate is relatively small. It was best with two or three calls in a row. I made $200.00+ one evening.

But, one benefit that I found was that the girls I drove were often available for a private rendezvous, unknown to the agency, at a nice discount. I had some fun times as a result of my driving.

Ha ha ha Ingrid, I can't believe you remember! But you were always down with rockin' out to The Fox, which was cool.

Yes, rock stations like The Fox, Rock 101, & The Q dominate when I'm in the car. If I'm driving though, it's strictly what the lady wants, even if it's CKNW, JRFM, or just pure silence.

The main provider I drive right now likes to listen to the station HiTrack mentioned, 94.5 The Beat. That's cool with me. I've even programmed it into my radio so when she hops in, she can switch it there right away (which she happily does). I guess it gets her in a good mood on the way to the call.
