Didn't he die the same day his Blade Runner character died in the movie? I think there is one coincidence with something like that. Cool but a bit weird.
No. The opening title card of the movie has it starting in November 2019. The character's "incept date" is January of 2016 and the replicants have 4 year life spans, and we don't really know how much time passes over the course of the film but we can infer that Roy Batty dies sometime between November of 2019 and early January of 2020.
So... close but not quite...

His books are great too. I have Maps of Meaning (recommended to me by Cortez a couple years ago) and 12 Rules for Life: an Antidote to Chaos. IMO, he's an outlier on the higher end of the intelligence scale.
