Can someone explain the significance of these new papers that have hit the street a few months ago. There everywhere. I read one article in 24 and what this paper did is take a story from the Sun, edit the hell out of it to fit their paper format. They only told a very small part of the whole story. What a joke.

Is someone getting rich of these papers 'cause i don't see there purpose.

Jimmy Patterson is behiend 24. Not sure about the rest of them.

And yes, the point is for the owners to make oodles of money off of them.

DOSE is published by CanWest, which owns most of the newspapers in Canada. It was clearly designed to compete with the other urban freebies (Georgia Straight in Van, SEE in E-town, FFWD in Cowtown, etc). But unlike the other papers, DOSE is written with the gerbil-like attention span in mind.

I was downtown around 8 am one morning. I drove down Georgia and i kid you not on every corner were citizens wearing red or green colored smocks handing out these papers. I'm not sure if thats the norm every morning but if these papers are making money i wonder how if they are paying these sellers minimum wage. I also wonder who would read these papers on regular basis? Even if there free the content as stated is fucking brutal. I guess the content doesn't matter as long as you can sell the advertising space.

Perb should have its on paper on the streets. Dedicated to pooning. We need to elect someone to run it. Any ideas?

Whoever said Pattison runs these things is only 1/2 right...Glen Clark was hired by Pattison to run his signboard company after resigning as Premier. Now Clark's job is to run these papers, or one of them.

My bet is that with paying all the schmucks to stand around every morning handing out these rags, the whole enterprise will fade in 6 months because it's NOT making money....my faith in Clark running anything right is pretty low...

I find it kinda humourous to see an army of newspaper distributors handing out this thing every morning going into work..at least they're gaining from the enterprise..I bet old Glen is losing a bunch of Jimmy's money though.

Most papers do that. I grew up in Red Deer, and we got all the Edmonton and Calgary papers. Any major story was almost exactly the same no matter which paper you got.

I'm with you on this one. If Glen Clark is involved in these papers with Jim Pattison then i hope both of them sink quicker than the Fast Cat Ferriers.

With all these new papers, I'm not sure which annoys me more...people begging for money, or people begging to foist these damn papers on me.
