I had no problem taking my black lab in the following places when I lived in Vancouver:
- Book warehouse (used to be several locations, sadly now only one @Cambie/Broadway... they have dog treats)
- TD Banks (they have dog treats)
- Canadian Tire (cambie)
- Chapters (downtown and Granville locations)
- Best Buy (cambie)
- Winners Home sense (cambie)
- Future Shop (Broadway)
- La vie en rose (granville)
- Tons of little shops
- Little sister (Davie)
- those 24hr sex stores downtown on Granville and the ones on Davie lol
No dogs:
- Anywhere that sells food (restaurants, grocery stores, pharmacy, 7eleven..)
- Home depot (never understood that one although I was allowed once when my dog was a puppy so I think they changed their policy later on)
- Malls
I did off leash parks/beach when my dog was younger but as she's aged she doesn't always play nice with some dogs and is picky about those she likes.. so we skip it now. Lol
Anyway, personally I really wish they allowed dogs on public transit more than anything else, even if only outside of rush hour, like they do in Toronto..
Lots of cities around the world allow dogs, with various conditions or rules. Canada is pretty bad for that.
Btw it goes without saying that only well behaved dogs and responsible owners should have the privilege to do any of this..
