Does Vancouver only have one 5-star hotel?

I heard that the Sutton Place is the only 5-star in Vancouver!
I'm looking for a nice hotel to stay at for my next trip - and I want to try the nicest ones before the rates increase to high-season!

The Pan Pacific is also 5 stars and I think the 4 seasons too after the renovation.

Aren't the Fairmont hotels (like the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver) pretty nice too?

BTW I stayed at Sutton Place on a recent business trip and, while it was very nice and I had no complaints, it didn't blow my doors off with luxury. Trust me, the company I work for doesn't allow us to stay at the best of the best :( I imagine there are better hotels in the city the size of Vancouver. That being said, if I was to stay at a hotel in Vancouver on my own money, Sutton Place would be close to the top of the list because it's a great bang for the buck.

The location of Sutton Place is hard to beat though, especially for a working girl.

I'm getting on a bit of a tangent here, but bear in mind that there's no universally accepted hotel rating agency -- it's not like say, being a chef and having a Michelin star.

The difference between a 5 star and 4 star can be something as small as pipe diameter for bathroom plumbing (showers) and percentage of staff to customers etc etc. I've stayed in a 4 star hotels that were far superior as to quality of the hotel and service than 5 star hotels which were simply built to different specs. IMO most 5 star hotels are NOT worth the money but selecting a very good 4 star is.

While not 5-star, I can recommend the Sheraton Wall Centre (4 - 4.5). Better location than most as its further south, right on Burrard by Robson.

BCAA only has The Shangri-la as a 5 star hotel.

Sutton Place, Loden Vancouver, Pan Pacific,La Grande Resident at Sutton Place and The Fairmont Waterfront are all 4.5 star hotels.
