Does anyone pay for porn anymore?

Just curious. I've never done porn, save that one masturbation video that's required of every Hustler Centerfold. I've never been a big connoisseur of porn either, as I prefer to live in the moment and find my imagination be most erotic of all. I do however have a lot of friends in porn. I have heard them complaining about how it's a dying industry and how there's no more money in porn, because nobody ever pays for it anymore. Of course I'm sympathetic but outside of an understanding nod, I never thought much about it as it's never affected me. However, recently I had a request from a gentleman who enjoys porn in the back ground. As I looked around for something I deemed suitable, I realized they're right. So much of it is free, I had no reason to pay for it at all. However, I'm not a regular porn consumer, have a specific fetish or genre that I'm into or any actresses that I'm a fan of etc. So my question is, do people ever pay for print anymore? I mean, obviously they must as movies continue to be made, but what are the reasons/circumstances that would encourage someone to join one of this ebay sites or buy DVDs when there's so much free content out there?
Just found myself curious, and figured you guys would be the best people to ask.

Surprisingly enough, some still do. Mostly older generations though, people just don't like changing the technology their used to (which is why there are still print versions of magazines) , and then there is the small percentage that don't have internet access. Not sure of the demographics of pay-sites though.

Everything I'd ever want to see is available online for free and no way I'd give my credit card number to a porn site for whatever extras a paid site might provide, I can't imagine what that might be

I paid for porn, a few years ago during a going out of business sale of a vid store. Prices were so low I thought I could turn a profit online till I saw what dvds were going for online. So now I have a pile of porn flicks lol

Paying for quality is where the money is now these days. Free gives you lower resolutions videos. Paid gives you higher definition.

Actually, that does sort of raise a point. Legally, you can't even pay for porn until you are of age. This does not stop the curious. Rather, the truly curious are driven to learn of free sites and piracy. Once you've learned those skills, it feels like there's little reason to ever go to paying for porn. And while it might seem like free porn will never truly stack up to paid porn, the trouble here is that even paid porn can be had for free by anyone resourceful enough to know their way around the filesharing sites.

Honestly, I have no idea if the porn industry can survive this sort of thing. Maybe they'll take a page from the television playbook, and use free/cheap porn simply as a means to sell other products. Merchandise, so to speak.

i pay for porn and i don't have a problem with admitting it.

i mostly do it for the 1080p quality you just don't get on streaming sites and i know you can download them now various torrent sites.

and there is also a lot of content out there that isn't readily available on tube sites.

of course you can make the argument that the urge to look at it at all is gone immediately after "you know what"

but i see myself as a collector of it, as bizarre as it sounds, i can pay a porn site to continue making good content, or buy a case of beer every week id rather do the former.
